The guardian of Rohan (Eowyn x Male reader)

Prologue

The kingdom of rohan has endured throughout the history of middle-earth, demonstrating over time the ability of its warriors and Kings who have relentlessly defended the future of their people.

Now it's up to us to see the story of one who will protect Rohan's future at a critical point in his history.

Elion has always wanted to prove his worth to his people and to royalty, he wanted to prove that he had the ability to protect those who represented rohan and its future, and he had to strive to do so. Despite inexperience and possible risks, he always admired the courage of the horse lords, always ready to face anything that threatened his home, and he wanted to go up, perhaps not on the battlefield, but giving his life taking care of the royalty.

And so it was, Elion prepared himself for years, joining the ranks of the warriors of rohan, it was not easy, but despite his age, little by little he showed his ability and his worth.At the surprising age of 19, Elion reached incredible standards among rohan's ranks, so much so, that he entered meduseld to meet King Theoden.

"Honestly, I am surprised that you have come so far boy, you must be proud of such an opportunity"
Hama was the captain of Rohan's royal guard, who had a soldier who could protect the king, although that decision did not correspond to him.

"Yes captain,although to tell the truth I don't know what to expect or what could happen , I feel that maybe all this could be worthless" Elion in spite of everything,was still showing nervousness derived from what could happen,although Háma knew that the young man had demonstrated to have the initiative and the ability to belong to the royal guard. "Calm down, it's time to see the King in the Golden Hall."

Finally ,it was time to see the King. Háma and Elion entered Meduseld ,with Theoden and his son chatting quietly about the day to day life of the kingdom,until Háma approached the throne.

"My lord, I have brought you a promising soldier for the royal guard, I would like you to test him and decide if he is worthy of the position" Háma extended his arm to make way for Elion; the boy carefully approached the throne and bowed before their majesties.

"My lord, it is an honor to be present for the opportunity to protect you and fight at your side" The boy spoke quietly, waiting for some word from the King.
"So I see that this is the boy you were telling me about, Háma, to tell the truth I did not expect him to be so young."

"I understand your concern my lord, although I can assure you that he has proven to have what it takes and the courage to protect you and fight at your side, I trust the young man's ability to suggest him to the royal guard, my lord."

"I see,what is your name ,Rider of Rohan? " Theoden had begun with the boy's trial.

"My name is Elion my lord,son of Olin." Elion was a bit wary of the words he was spitting out, though he wouldn't let it show, at least not too much.

"This Olin, wasn't he Rohan's squire?"

"That is correct my lord,but a disease struck down my family and took their lives."

"It's a pity, I'm sure they must be proud of how far you have come."

"I hope so sir ,I wish they could see my effort" Expressed Elion with a bit of sadness in his voice,although he did not let himself get carried away by this.

"And tell me Elion, son of Olin, why do you want to be part of the royal guard?" Theoden asked the young soldier directly.

"I always felt admiration for the quality and ability of the kings to keep Rohan afloat and at peace,and at a certain point I found that I had the assurance to want to offer my life to protect those who ruled Rohan and its future,even if I even lose my life for them" Elion graciously expressed his desires to serve the King.

"I see that you proved your quality to Captain Háma,and that you have his trust,is this correct?"

"Yes my lord,you have my confidence for the boy to serve you as you ask" Háma expressed freely and sure of what he was saying.

Theoden considered everything he heard and then went into a mode of thought and reflection on his decision, meanwhile his son, Theodred, approached Elion and shook his hand in greeting.

"I see you have impressed Háma,despite how senile he is becoming day by day ha ha ha."

"Just so you know young prince, I'm not that old, my son is barely 7 years old. It's not my fault I have to put up with the horses in the stables at night."

"Yeah sure ,try to shield yourself with poor Bregó" The prince expressed playfully . "Well Elion, I'd like to practice with you some day, I'd like to see your ability".

"Whenever you like, Prince Theodred."

Theodred liked the sincerity and directness, which Theoden noticed and after a little more thought, he made up his mind.

"Very well boy ,I am certain that I can depend on you to defend the house of Rohan ,however ,I feel that you are too young to be left rusting away guarding a door or risking your life for me ,and even if you would do it without hesitation ,that does not mean you have a use within this house" Theoden knew that the boy would be of good to someone specific.

With a command ,he summoned the lady of Rohan,Eowyn ,who entered the throne room heeding her uncle's call. "What do you need my lord?"

Elion watched the lady of Rohan carefully. he had already heard and observed Eowyn through his training and among his companions,who admired the girl's gentleness and grace.

"Eowyn ,I present to you Elion,from now on,he will be your personal Guardian and protector,I hope the two of you will maintain a healthy and friendly relationship."

Eowyn stopped to observe the young man,the first thing she noticed was that coincidentally they seemed to be the same age,and she was a little surprised that someone like that would become her guardian.

"Is it necessary for him to do this work with me, my lord?" the young woman asked doubtfully.

"Elion here has shown himself to have the qualities to be able to serve you and protect you from anything, so I hope you can put your trust in him."

"Very well, if that is all, I must attend to some personal matters; Háma, be sure to equip him accordingly," Expressed Theoden before getting up from the throne and leaving with his son.

"As you command my lord" said Háma before taking Elion with him and leaving Meduseld.

"So .... Was it what you expected ?"

"Not exactly,though I suppose I can settle for this" Elion expressed as if he had not accomplished his task.

"Do not be discouraged ,to serve and protect the lady of Rohan is a great privilege,and just as important as the king" Replied the captain as they descended the stairs of Meduseld.

Inside Meduseld, Eomer entered the war room of the hall where Theoden and his son were, along with some captains.

"My lord, don't you think a guardian for my sister is a bit unnecessary? It's not as if she really needs one." Eomer showed some displeasure and even doubt of Theoden's decision.

Theoden thought for a moment about how to respond, but the king had a reason for his decision.

"Tell me Eomer,when was the last time you saw your sister happy? Or with a genuine smile on her face?"

"Well I...... I wouldn't know my Lord" Eomer tried to give him a contrary answer,but still,Theoden's question made him think that he hasn't really seen his sister smiling happily. "And what does that have to do with it?"

"She has always lived in fear,not knowing what awaits her,Eomer. When I took you on my mantle,I did not take into account what you needed at the time,and I feel I have yet to offer her that something."

"And what does it have to do with that boy?" the general was beginning to worry why they were putting so much spin on the matter.

"She needs security, companionship, and above all, she doesn't feel lonely" Theoden replied.

"What she needs now is to have another perspective on the world,to forget about the problems and to have someone who is always willing to listen to her ,I think that could be Elion's usefulness."

"And I hope she also realizes how important it is for us that she is well."
