A Dragon's Tragedy

"It was supposed to be like any other mission of ours" Abby started.

Abby and Jackson sat at the meeting spot as they were instructed by Raven.  "They sure are takin' their sweet time..." Abby complained leaned back into Jax who gently patted her head "those two are probably being held up by Raven" he said, Abby was about to rebuttal the statement but her ears flicked as she heard the jingle of bullets and heavy boots walk in their direction "Nevermind they're here!" The two rose up and gave a sharp salute to towards the duo.

Void grimaced at the sight and groaned "guys you don't need to-" he was cut off as Angel ran past him joining Abby and Jax in the salute before yelling in unison "good day Captain Void!"

He sighed and smirked. "Abby your posture is poor if you're going to salute someone stand tall and proud. Jax good form but your feet are too far apart. And Angel...yours is perfect." Angel grinned placing her hands on her hips in a triumphant pose.

"Except you saluted with the wrong hand" Void said bonking her with a map which earned a chuckle from their teammates "meanie!" She pouted rubbing her head.

"Alright listen up Talon! Our task is simple we're to go and investigate why the tribes regular shipment of supplies hasn't arrived yet. And fix it." Void said earning a groan from Abby "that means we gotta go to the underground's camp..."

"Don't be so down in the dumps Raven has got a new supplier meaning we have the all clear to kill the lot of them..." Void said "BUT! She also said that if we can reach an agreement with them then violence could be avoided" Angel butted in. She was met with blank stares from her allies and let out a defeated sigh.

Void rolled his eyes and groaned "we'll attempt Angel's plan but first sign of trouble we kill them all no exceptions. And that's final." Void ordered earning a resounding "yes sir" from his team "good now get your supplies ready if we leave soon we can set up camp at the halfway point by sundown..." Void said walking off to get his preparations ready.

The crackle of the campfire accompanied by the howl of the wind and nighttime critters was the lullaby for the group beside Void who was wide awake on watch for his friends whilst they rested.

Abby snuggled up happily in Jackson's arms.

Suddenly he felt something rest on his shoulder and he quietly sighed "couldn't sleep?" He asked peeking at his white haired partner "had a nightmare..." Angel sleepily replied "it's okay...it wasn't real nothing can hurt you..." he said looking forward and getting a soft and sluggish "thank you" accompanied with a hug. A silence fell upon them again before finally being broken.

"Void..." she hesitantly whispered
"Hm?" Void shortly returned
"Do you ever think about what happened to you?" She started "like do you think it was something you had to experience?" She finished peeking up at him from her position.

Void stared into the flames of their campfire "I think that evil influences everything in this world...so everything is a product of sin...it doesn't matter if I had to experience it or not...I would fall victim to a sin no matter what..." he bluntly answered

"Not what I asked V"
"...it was something I had to experience to become the person I am now...I'm a product of sin...but that means the person I could've been is now dead...similar to how the incident with your family and you joining Raven killed the person you could've been instead" Void finally responded

Angel pulled away from his shoulder and smiled "I suppose that's one way to think about it...do you think you would've been a kind person?"

Void stared at her an annoyed expression overtaking his face "you tryna say I'm not kind?" He said much to her surprise "ah! N-No that's not what I..." she stopped seeing the smirk on his face "Ughh you ass... you know what I mean"
