Before birth he was present. During life, he was spiteful yet tamed by a knight whom he maned. In death, he was absent, angry yet stagnant even still his heart was pained...his mind drifting as all but one question remained "What was the name of the knight who died with me in flame"

"I don't understand...I know what I saw" Void said "Are you sure it wasn't like adrenaline or something? You're eyes were swirling after all" Noaki said

"Yeah you've been really pushing your limits" Nami said pointing to the bandages on his hands "I know I know" he said sighing

"Well at least you're in the finals even though Yang was disqualified...you just have to face the winner of Pyrrha vs Penny" Akira pointed out causing Void to groan. "Those two...ughhh everyone in this festival is hiding something.." Nami giggled and took his hand "How about we go get some snacks to have during the match?" She suggested "Good idea! Pela and the others said they'd save seats for us and team RWBY so we'll go to meet them" Akira said as she and Noaki walked away.

Void and Nami walked for a moment in silence before she wrapped something around Void's neck "W-what the...oh a necklace?" He said looking down at the crystal-like vile filled with a red liquid "Mhm! A special gift from me to you I put my blood sweat and tears in it! Literally"

Void smiled and leaned forward planting a kiss on her cheek "You're giving me all sorts of gifts" he said smiling causing her to blush "You make it sound like I've given you something else"

He smirked and nodded "Remember what I said about shades and how love affects us?" She seemed puzzled by the sudden mention of the topic but nodded "Once a shade falls In love they're incapable of falling for another person..." she recounted.

"Well another thing I didn't say is that shades often take on an aspect of the person they love could be their eye colour, hair colour, manner of speech anything" he said smiling.

"Even their gender?" Nami quipped, any answer he had died in his throat "I don't actually know...if it can happen it's probably just as rare as getting someone's semblance..." he said.

For a brief moment, Nami tried to imagine Void as a girl or with lightning both of which seemed equally frightening "I wish I could get something from you directly..but I'm not a shade"

He rolled his eyes and pulled her closer "True but I can give you my word that I'll stay by you as long as I live." he said softly

She smiled and nodded "Good...good, I'll need it..." she said squeezing his hand and gaining his attention "My Vema...is getting worse" she whispered causing his eyes to grow to the size of saucers "W-what? Since when??" He asked

"A while...I just didn't want to worry you...the truth is I dropped out of the second round because I'm pretty sure I'm slowly going blind..." her words were like daggers as he stared into her yellow eyes and he felt like a fool... they were growing cloudy and the moments of her bumping into things back into the dorm, or simply misjudging the distance to grabbing flooding his mind.

"I...I'll find a cure...I'm sure my mom had written...something..." Void's words died in his throat as he then remembered his home burned down years ago and if something survived the fire it would've been destroyed by rains and storms in the area

"V...it's okay...we'll work through it..." she smiled placing her hands on his cheeks

"Nami...I lo-" Void started

"Bad time?" Void's attention snapped to the new voice instinctively pulling Nami against him. He looked at the source of the voice to see a man with black hair and a grey and white suit-like outfit, a canteen full and alcohol undoubtedly..
