Grian rarely got post.

It was an old fashioned mode of communication, considering the digital age. Almost all major companies had completely switched to email or text. If there was something urgent, a phone call would be much more convenient than a letter.

It was rare indeed for a letter to appear at the door. Most of the time it's a flyer which goes into the bin. There was one letter that was different... something about it just felt special. Perhaps it was the warning on the envelope: 'Confidential - Only to be read by the addressed person'. Grian opened the envelope carefully, taking out a handwritten note.

'Hey, Grian. I know you want to lay low with the bird stuff, but I have a hybrid friend who would like to meet you. He's not an avian but it's good to have someone to talk to about this kind of stuff. Don't feel pressured, I need to ask him too so it might not even happen. Just sent a letter because I know you might be paranoid if I sent it over digitally. Feel free to destroy this letter after you've read it too. Scott.'

Grian set the note down on his desk, thinking about what to do. It would be nice to meet other hybrids, even if Scott's friend wasn't an avian. Yet, Grian had to be careful that he wasn't falling into a trap. He had only known Scott for a couple of weeks, and Scott had just found out about his wings less than a week ago. What if they were trying to get him into a situation where they would have the advantage?

Perhaps he could blame HotGuy for his recent decisions. The carefree, risk taking demeanour of his colleague was rubbing off on him. Not that Grian would claim he was completely chaos free before meeting HotGuy. Grian used to be a risk taker; his whole childhood he had been looking for the next adrenaline rush. It was a life that he loved living, to be at the forefront of adventure and excitement. However, he had been lacking something ever since the novelty of danger wore off. He felt a sense of ennui, as if nothing was satisfying him anymore. HotGuy was like a breath of fresh air for Grian - he was daring, adventurous, and above all, fun. If anything, HotGuy had ignited an old spark in him that he missed dearly.

Returning to Scott's house was easier than Grian expected. ALthough he hesitated for a moment, trying to calm the nerves that were beginning to build in his heart. He took a deep breath and knocked firmly on the door, his heart beating in his chest.

The door opened, and Grian was met by a friendly face. He smiled, feeling the warmth of the other person's presence.

"Grian!" Scott smiled cheerfully. "So glad you said yes."

"So, when you said you know hybrids, I'm assuming it's referring to this person?" Grian stepped inside, recognising Scott's house.

Scott chuckled gently, shutting and locking the door behind him.

"My roommate, in fact." Scott replied.

Grian raised an eyebrow. "You have a roommate?"

"I have a name, y'know!"

A voice called from the corner of the room. A short man with brown hair sat on the sofa. Grian wasn't sure how he'd missed him, considering he was dressed head to toe in bright orange.

"Nice to meet you." Grian mumbled, observing the man with a confused expression. He didn't notice anything non-human about Scott's roommate.

The man approached Grian, grabbing a cane as he stood. He gently took Grian's hand and leaned down. For a moment Grian thought he was just a charmer who kissed people's hands as a greeting. His expectations were shattered when the stranger spat on Grian's hand.
