Hard to Love

Chapter 1: Prologue

The room was spinning as I found myself in some sort of daze. My vision was starting to turn black now as I was pushed into something. I used my hands and felt around realizing I was pinned up against a hard wall by a hand over my chest. The next thing I knew, my left cheek was tingling like it was going to burst on fire from the slap I received.

I fell over to the ground with a bang, my head hitting hard on the cold surface. The floor felt like an ice pack under my hot body. The pain was increasing as my head pounded with the beat of my heart. My left leg was throbbing and I tried to get up.

There was a kick delivered to my stomach next and another slap to my face. My body felt broken and shattered just like all of my hope I had coming out of this alive. Through the increasing black stars, I saw my hands shaking. And that was the last thing I remember before I fell completely unconscious.

I woke up in my bed shaking and sweating all over. That night still haunts me, every time. It's something you will never forget, when your parent abused you. It's something you can't ever forget. Every kick, slap, swear word, bruise.

I stumbled into the toilet and splashed water from the sink onto my face trying to rid the memory away. Looking in the mirror I saw a different girl from the past 18 years living in that house. But as much as my life has changed, my brutal past is what makes me me.

I laid back in my bed loosely draping the covers over me and tried to fall back into a somewhat peaceful sleep.
