You are the owner of a chain of coffee shops and a doctor that always requires his dose of caffeine falls in love with you. (This is a short one).
TAEHYUNG POV
I am walking through the halls of the hospital trying to find the room where my new patient is supposed to be, but I think I got lost... again. This place is so huge that I've been struggling all night and all morning to find the places I'm supposed to go. I finally orient myself a little and manage to make my way to said room. Once there, I explain the procedure to my new patient and his daughter, which is going to take place in a few hours. When they have no more questions, I exit the room and suddenly bump into my supervisor.
- Doctor Kim, how's your first day going?- He asks patiently.
- Good, I am just a little behind on my paperwork, but I'll catch up.-
- Don't worry about it. How about you go and take a little break? Drink some coffee, you look tired.- I am about to turn down his offer, but I am exhausted, so without really thinking about it, I agree and thank him. I leave the documents in the nurse's office, so that they can proceed to treat my patient before the surgery and soon start walking around to try to find a coffee shop or something similar to that.
Not far from my workplace, I find a rather big coffee shop where three baristas are skillfully making the orders of the doctors and patient's visitors that are patiently waiting for their order. When it's my turn, I order a double espresso and pay for it before chugging it down completely, feeling the horrible bitter taste in my entire mouth. I hate it, but I seriously need some energy boost if I want to last. I get ready for the surgery as I let the caffeine kick in.
When I get out of surgery, I take another break since it was tiring and I still have a few more hours left in my shift. I decide to go for another coffee, but I now realize that the big/crowded coffee shop I went to earlier is now almost empty. There's only a woman waiting for her order, a man with his young daughter looking really depressed for some reason and three girls looking like they are gossiping about something.
Behind the bar, instead of being three baristas, there's only one and he seems to be doing things at a slower pace; maybe because there is really no need for him to hurry anyway. I walk closer to the register as he finishes the drink for the woman that looks like she's visiting a patient, but she looks like she's had a long day; that's probably how I also look, or worse. When he finishes the order, he turns his head over to me and I instantly think just how handsome he is. A lot of people must flirt with him because of his looks. Now I understand why the girls keep looking this way, they're talking about him; understandable.
- Welcome to The Coffee Club, what can I do for you?- He asks with a smile on his face that complements his face completely and a nice attitude that makes him chill. I wish I looked a lot more decent right now.
- Hi. An espresso, please.-
- Long day?- He chuckles as I hand him the exact cash for the coffee.
- You have no idea.- He soon starts to prepare the coffee. I think it's nice he's trying to make conversation. Something that the other baristas clearly couldn't do because of the crowd.
- How long until you finish your shift, doctor?-
- Like five hours.- I say as I sigh deeply. It's really been a long day adapting to the hospital and honestly I just want to go home. He looks slightly surprised at my answer, but soon continues what he's doing.
- Well. I'll make it double then; looks like you need caffeine.- I chuckle a little and nod. He's really nice.- Hey, you must be new around here. This is the first time I see you.-
- Maybe it's just that I have never come to this cafe before.- I have no idea where I got the energy to flirt, but it looks like I do.
- No way. Everyone comes here. It's normally sooner than later.- I laugh at his sassiness.
- Well, it does seem to be really popular; or at least you.- I look over at the three girls that are still looking at the gorgeous man that hands me my coffee.
- Yeah, they've been here a while, but I don't mind the looking. If they stay here a while, it just means that they'll order more.- He says with a beautiful and radiant smile that happens to be extremely contagious.
- Good point. But you guessed it, I am new here, this is my first day.-
- Oh, the first day it's the worst. Everyone looks completely devastated; well, actually the entire first week. But I think you are the exception to that.-
- What do you mean? I feel completely devastated, I'm sure I look exactly like that.-
- No, trust me, you look great.- I just stare at him in a peculiar way. He might be flirting back with me or maybe I'm just too tired and I'm hallucinating things. I decide to chug down my coffee in one go, contorting my face at the bitterness. He looks at me worriedly.- What's wrong? You didn't like the coffee?-
- No no, don't worry. It's just that, I don't like coffee. I order it because I need the caffeine.-
- Oh.- He nods understanding.- You don't like bitter stuff?- I shake my head no and he snaps his fingers as if he just got an idea.
He tells me to wait a little bit and he starts making another coffee that looks a little bigger than the previous one; it has a lot more ingredients too. He soon hands me a cup that looks a little intimidating to be honest, but he encourages me to drink it. I decide to give it a try and it just tastes delicious.
- Woah, this is so yummy.-
- Do you like it? It's the Y/N's special. It doesn't taste like coffee, but it does have enough caffeine and sugar to help you with your day.- He smiles kindly, which makes me smile back almost immediately; he really does have a very nice and kind smile.
- Yes, I love it. Thank you so much. How much do I owe you for the special?-
- Oh no, it's on me.-
- I don't like to owe people.- He chuckles a little at my worriedness.
- You don't owe me anything, really. I just wanted you to try it. Drinking coffee is about enjoying the taste and feeling how it warms up your soul.-
- Whoa, looks like you are a big fan of coffee.-
- Yeah, that's probably why I opened this coffee shop in the first place.- I open my eyes wide in shock, suddenly realizing everything.
- Wait, so you are the owner?- He nods while smiling proudly.- And who's Y/N? You?- He smiles proudly yet again.
- Yes, you are very smart, doctor... ?-
- Taehyung, Kim Taehyung.- I extend my hand for him to shake, which he does ever so delicately.
- Your beautiful name does match with you, doctor.- I smile unconsciously at the compliment and soon a little smirk appears on my face.
- Are you flirting with me by any chance?- I have no idea what gave me the courage to ask that, maybe it's the caffeine.
- Yes, thank you for noticing.- We both laugh at that, but he cuts himself almost immediately.- I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable or something.-
- Oh no, not at all.- I quickly reassure him. I get an idea and a boost of confidence kicks in. Again, it may be the caffeine.- Here's my card. Give me a call sometime.- I send him a wink and he stays in shock for nearly two seconds before smiling and grabbing the card.
-I definitely will.- He smiles, again, making my heart melt. How is it possible that I am already falling for this guy?
