I started texting Devan the second I got home.

Me: Thanks for asking me to be your girlfriend :)

Devan: Thanks for letting me be your boyfriend ;)

I already knew I was a girlfriend, then I realized I had a boyfriend! I was so excited.

Me: Want to come to my house next week? My mom and step-dad will be out watching a movie with my sister Sarah and my sister Sasha will be at a party so I'll have the house to myself for two hours.

Devan: Sounds great! By the way, Avia asked me to give you her snap. Here (her snapchat username)

Me: Oh, thank you.

Devan: By the way, I'm heading to the pool tomorrow with my family. If your free, we could meet there.

Me: I don't know, I'm tired from today. I think I just want to chill tomorrow if that's alright.

Devan: Come on! I want to see you in a bikini again! Please?

Me: Okay, I'll come.

We texted until around midnight.

Me: I'm going to go bed. Goodnight!

Devan: Noooo, I'm not tired. Stay up and talk to me :)

Me: Can I please go to bed? I need my beauty sleep.

Devan: You don't need beauty sleep, you're already beautiful!

Me: Thanks but I'm tired. I'll see you tomorrow.

Devan: Alright. See you tomorrow I guess.

I turned off my phone and tried to sleep but I kept thinking about the passive-aggressiveness in his text. I started watching TokTik and saw that Avia posted a video five minutes ago. So she must still be awake. I decided to add her snapchat and texted her.

Me: Are you still awake?

Avia: Is this Em?

Me: Yeah, sorry I didn't clarify that.

Avia: It's fine, what's up?

Me: I think Devan is mad at me *Sends picture of conversation*.

Avia: He's probably tired and grumpy. Rebecca said he gets that way when he's tired.

Me:  He said he wasn't tired but maybe he thought I wanted to keep talking.

Avia: I agree. Anyway, Avalyn and I are going to the mall this weekend. Rebecca cancelled so I figured I should ask you. No offense, but Rebecca doesn't want Avalyn and I to be friends with you. Her and Devan used to date and she's not over him yet.

Me: It's not offensive at all, Devan already mentioned that. And I would love to go to the mall.

Avia: I'm going to go to bed but it was nice talking to you! I'll see you this weekend.

Me: See you this weekend.

I turned off my phone and was finally able to fall asleep. But I forgot to set an alarm to go to the pool at ten. I woke up at 10:20 with multiple missed calls and texts from Devan. I quickly jumped out of bed, put on my blue bikini, and ran downstairs.

"Sasha! You have to drive me to the pool right now!" I screamed, slapping her toast out of her hand.

"What is wrong with you?!" Sasha looked at me like I was crazy.

"Devan and I are dating now and he invited me to the pool but I was supposed to leave at ten and I think he's mad at me now-"

"Calm down, Em. WAIT DID YOU SAY DATING? WHY DIDN'T YOU START WITH THAT? Okay, you look good but you should run a brush through your hair. Here, brush it on the way. Let's go! I'll tell Mom where you went," Sasha yelled as I grabbed a brush and my phone.

When I got there I sat my stuff on a table and saw Devan in the hot tub. I ran over to him.

"I'm so sorry Devan! I woke up late!" I apologized.

He looked mad but kept his composure. "It's fine babe. Just set an alarm next time. I'm glad you made it!"

He called me babe! I thought I was about to melt and the hot tub I was getting into wasn't helping matters.

"You look so hot in that bikini," he started staring at my breasts as I got in. I pretended not to notice. We were the only ones in the hot tub, so he grabbed my hip and moved me closer to him. He moved his hand down.

"Devan, didn't you say your family is here?" I asked nervously, trying to make him stop.

"It's fine, they're on the other side of the building. Don't worry." He grabbed my ass.

"Devan, we've only dated for a day. Isn't this going a bit far?" I asked.

"C'mon, I've been waiting to do this for almost a month now. And didn't you say you've liked me the whole school year?" He reached for my breast but I stopped him.

"I still want to wait a little bit more before going that far, if you don't mind."

He scoffed. "Whatever."

I started feeling bad. We've only dated a day so far, but we've been flirting for weeks. Maybe this was the next appropriate step in our relationship. Maybe I owed him this.

The rest of the hour went okay before I left. It was awkward at first, but most of it was alright. Shortly before leaving, I went to the front to buy ice cream. Devan stopped me before I could even get my money out.

"You shouldn't buy ice cream. I don't want you gaining weight." I really wanted ice cream, but he had a good point. I was glad he could keep me in check. I thought I shouldn't have been gaining any more weight. He was just looking out for me and being a good boyfriend. Right?
