Seperation anxiety

Nick's perspective:

Tomorrrow I'm leaving for a work trip, and I'm gonna be away for a week. I really don't wanna leave Charlie. I Always feel so lost when he's not around, and i have trouble sleeping.

Last year i Got diagnosed with seperation anxiety, and since Then i havent slept alone. Charlie Always stays with me, but this time he can't. My work would not allow him to come along.

I havent told Charlie how i feel about the whole thing, cause he should not feel bad, and i know he Will even though Its not his fault.

God i hate my work for not letting him tag along. I dont know how i am gonna get through a whole week without Charlie...

Charlie's perspective:

So Nick is going on a worktrip for a week tomorrow, and i know he is freaking out. He hasnt slept alone since he Got diagnosed with seperation anxiety, so i know he is scared.

I walk into the Living room to see nick cuddled up on the sofa. The TV is on, but he's asleep. I lift his head and sit down and put his head on my lap.

I wanna talk to him about maybe staying Home, even though i know the chances are slim since he loves his job, but i hate seeing him this stressed out.

"Nick?" I whipser

"Mhm I'm tired"

"I know, I'm Sorry, i just need to talk to you"

"You okay?" He asks

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just worried about you"

"Why?"

"I know you're scarwd about going away, and i Think you should stay at Home. I know work is important for you, but your mental health is more important, and you're not ready yet."

"You're right. But I'm gonna get fired if i dont go"

"Not if we sit Down and talk to Them. If we tell Them about your anxiety they Will have to understand, ill go with you"

"I guess we Can try.."

"Thank you. I dont like seeing you this stressed out"

"Love you"

"Love you too nick"

He closed his eyes again, and i Can tell by his breathing that he fell asleep quickly after. This has really been hard on him. He normally doesnt nap.

Nick's perspective:

I slowly open my eyes and notice I'm in my bed? How did i get here? I was on the couch when i fell asleep?

I turn around and see Charlie asleep next to me?

"Char?"

"Mhm"

"How did you get me in here?"

"You were awake, like not fully but a little and you asked me to help you get to the bedroom. It doesnt suprise me you dont remember you were really tired"

"Oh, well thanks" i say and kiss him

"We should talk to your boss now"

"Yeah"

*time skip*

Charlie's perspective:

As we get closer to nick's boss' Office i Can feel him getting more and more anxious. So i take his hand in mine.

"Its gonna be okay Nick, he Will understand"

"Mhm"

"Hey look at me"

He looks up at me, and i smile at him.

"I love you Nick, and Its gonna be okay"

"I love you. Thank you"

"Of course. Anything to make sure you're comftable"

We keep walking and get to his boss' Office and knock on the door.

"Come on in"

"Hello Nick, and Charlie i Assume?"

"Oh yeah, hi" i say

"Sit down"

And so we do.

"So what did you guys wanna talk about?" He asks. He honestly Seems Nice.

"Uhm- i uhmm..." Nick says

I take nick's hand in mine. And mouth "it'll be okay" to him.

"I dont Think i Can go on the worktrip. Its not that i dont want to, but... uhmm i Got diagnosed with seperation anxiety last year, and- and i find it really hard to not be around Charlie, i- i am working on it, but a week apart is probably not the best Way to start..."

"I see, well i Can try and see if Christian Can go instead?"

"That would be really Nice"

"Of course, I'll Call you, and if he can't I'll go"

"Thank you. I can take some extra shifts if that would help?"

"That would probably make Christian more likely to go"

"Yeah. Well Thank you so much"

"Of course, bye"

"Bye"

"Bye, Nice meeting you" i say.

We walk out of the door and when it closed behind us tears starts falling down nick's cheeks.

"Hey Whats wrong?"

"Nothing I'm just so relieved"

I let out a small chuckle. "I am too"

I kiss him on the cheek and we walk back to the car.
