"he" steals into the hospital room. "he" doesn't really have to be quiet, but "he" doesn't really want to be loud, just in case the white-haired patient isn't fully asleep. the sick boy usually is though, by this time. "he" regrets not being able to come those five days due to an exam week, so "he" promises "he" won't miss a day again.

"he" spots the note in Kaneki's hand and gently eases it out, inspecting the message. it brings a smile to "his" face.

tsundere, "he" thinks wryly.

"he" sets down a pot of a new kind of flower. "he" doesn't even know the names or meanings, just picks the prettiest ones on sale that morning. it's kinda funny to think that maybe Kaneki knows them all.

the side table is getting cluttered, with six plant pots, a mobile phone, and medication strewn across it. taking note of the empty bed in the room, "he" lifts up the-- heavy-- table from that side of the room and pushes it up against Kaneki's previous one.

now he has a double-wide table that "he" takes great pleasure in lining up "his" gifts on. "he" puts the wilted chrysanthemums under the table and sticks a small paper flag with scribbles on it into the pot, then writes out a response to Kaneki's note and puts it in the newest addition to the array of plants.

Kaneki looks good among the white flowers, "he" decides. from now on "he" will make sure to buy only white flowers, because with his white hair and pale skin, the cute patient looks like he should be waking up in a field of white de-thorned roses every day, not a hospital. or, that's the way "he" would like it to be.

maybe Kaneki likes red.

"he" never thought of that, and a postscript is added to the note.

then, "his" watch beeps and "he" looks down, startled at how quickly the time passed.

"Damn," the teenage boy swears softly, throwing Kaneki one last fond look. "I'll be back tomorrow, I promise. I hope you like the flowers, sleeping beauty."
