the women ended up going back to the sanctuary a few days later, explaining everything to the three of them so they weren't confused. Nick and karl realized that they had helped the one and only prince of the underwater kingdom. And what really hurt both of them, was they were once best friends with the man.

Nick had been best friends with the kings son, but when he and karl left without saying anything, dream must have thought the humans got them. And it made so much more sense, why dream spent his entire life sinking human ships. It was all for nick, all to avenge him.

It made so much more sense when they found out why he didnt have a ring, because he had a trident that was five feet tall. He wanted nothing more then to talk to dream, to explain why he left and why he didnt say goodbye, but if he stepped foot anywhere near the kingdom then he knew he might not be able to leave again.

Dream and his sister had a long talk, one that lead dream to knowing his sister had been going onto land for years. He was angry with her at first but to her surprise, he asked if she could help him on land. Of course it wasn't some set thing, he had a kingdom he had to look after and protect but he would be lying if he said he wasn't interested in the humans.

so time skip a few weeks, he learned how to walk and the vague description on how humans work. He learned that he needed to wear clothing, to cover his body more then the mermen and mermaids did. He didnt exactly like that because the clothes his sister chose for him weren't comfortable in human terms but he had to put up with it.

Truth is he never found his trident, that devastated him because he had had it for his entire life and losing it to some humans was the worst way to go. He scanned the beach lines daily, going up and down the coast of florida to find it but there was nothing to be found.

Nick ended up talking to george about the merman, telling the brunette that a relationship between them couldn't work because of their differences and because of how busy a kings son must be. George didnt want to accept it, he acted like he had but every day he goes out onto his beach and looks into the ocean as if he might see that man again.

Dream and his sister, drista, both had to come up with human names. Drista had already made hers years ago, claiming the name Callie, but that just left dream to find one. The women read off lists of names, but for some reason he didnt find any of them interesting.

"okay what about Carson?" she looked at him as he sat on the sofa in front of her, shaking his head repeatedly. The blonde decided he wanted it to start with a c, seeing as callies did and he liked the way it sounded.

"cooper, caleb, clyde, Cameron, Charles, charlie, chris, carter, For fucks sake clay?!" she was exhausted, it was late in the day and they had to be getting back home sooner rather then later. Though one of the names sparked dreams attention.

"that last one" dream looked at her in curiosity, and callies eyes lit up a bit because she realized they might have actually decided on one finally.

"Clay" she repeated, him nodding again and finally sealing the deal. His human name was clay. He looked different too, his body was still just as toned if not more muscular, but his head is what changed most. His hair was no longer dreadlocks like it was when he was a merman, its short and curly. It was like nicks, short when in human form but majestic dreadlocks when a merman.

time passed, a few days or so and clay was getting more and more comfortable on land. He was learning how to talk like a human and how to act, Callie had taken him out shopping a few times and he fit in like he was a natural. Due to the kingdom of mermen and mermaids originally being from the oceans of Australia, both callie and clay had strong accents.
