You fucking liar.

That was the only thing that George could think of, even if he had almost just died, all he could think of was how this gorgeous merman from months ago lied to him and showed himself as human.

He knew that George knew about the underwater world, there was no reason to lie about it.

But here they were.

Clay felt his breathing start to slow, he was calming down. Or maybe he was dying.

"You- '' George went to stand up, he didn't know what he was going to do but he was just angry. When he went to stand up, he lost his balance which caused him to fall a bit but that grip on his shoulder hadn't left whatsoever.

Clay knew there might be a reaction like this, if there was anything he had picked up while being a human, it was honesty; they thrived on it.

"I'm sorry george." That was the only thing that Clay said, and for some reason it was dramatic.

His accent was stronger, his voice boomed with authority and it terrified the other mermen behind him. He threw his head a bit, those dreadlocks getting out of his face and going back onto his back. They were longer, past his shoulders at this point and that was a massive achievement.

That very well might have been the last thing Clay was ever going to say because his head started to spin. His eyes were going dim, he didn't know what it felt like to die but this might have been close enough to what he assumed.

"Someone for the love of god-" Nick went to step forward but Clay shook his head, he knew that there was nothing they could do. The redhead hated watching this, he hated watching someone he grew up with, someone he once called his brother, slowly die in front of him.

Though he glanced back at everyone else, all of them now had a confused look on their faces. The ground was shaking a bit, it wasn't very noticeable but it was definitely happening. WIthin seconds, it was slowly getting more aggressive to the point where George and Clay could feel it now.

The blonde opened his eyes fully, looking towards the water as a fear he had started to feel real. His tail began to feel better, his head was so light and his vision was fully back.

"No-" he begged, "no no no-'' he didn't want this to happen, honestly he would rather die than what was about to happen.

Everyone looked at him in fear, seeing someone of his magnitude scared? That was enough for them to be terrified.

Clay suddenly felt much better, good enough to transform back so that's what he did. Now that his human legs dangled off the edge, he was quick to stand up. Nobody knew what was happening, but Nick was quick to connect the dots.

"Well." Nick sighed, letting George go a bit as he watched everything slowly unfold.

Now as everyone looked off into the distance of the water, there was something flying through the water at speeds no one could comprehend. It looked like it had a light to it, it was goldish and looked a decent size.

Clay tried to take a few steps back but he knew it was already too late. He watched as that golden light slowed down as it approached them, until it was right at their feet in the water. The blonde sighed, he had been trying to avoid this happening on land in all honesty but here it was.

Everybody watched as that golden glow rose out of the water, getting higher and higher until it was aligned right above Clay's head. It was a trident, the golden trident. It was within reaching distance so all it took was clay reaching up to get a grip on the bottom of it.

Feeling that grip in his hand once more, he would never forget how that felt. Everybody watched as his body was engulfed in a bit of a golden cloud, they couldn't describe it but it looked angelic.
