clay started going onto land less and less. callie hated seeing him withdraw like this over some little argument. the blonde hated the land, he had always hated humans and the one time he ever actually tried to bond with them, they turned around and figuratively stabbed him in the back.
it had been a few weeks now and there was only a few times george ever saw his neighbor. The man was rarely ever at callies anymore and thats when callie made up some bullshit story about how he was staying with other family now.
The brunette never forgave nick for what he had done. sure it wasnt nicks fault fully that clay reacted the way he did but he sure as hell initiated it. george ignored the red head most of the time, only talking to him when he absolutely needed to and even that was rare.
"george please-" nick spoke as the brunette walked through the front doors but with those words, george B lined for his office and shut the door.
there was a window that everyone could see through, but the brunette quickly shut the blinds so no one could see through anymore. he was silently breaking inside, and all because of something nick said.
People always thought george was weird, they thought he was strange for putting his entire life towards saving animals in the ocean. No one ever wanted to be with him let along a guy, and the one time he finds someone that is into him but is also into the environment, nick ruins it.
george was throwing himself into his work. Paper on top of paper, writing down how the animals were doing and what was changing around the sanctuary. Part of him wanted to find clay and try to work things out again but he also knew that since the blonde broke things off in the first place, he didnt want to fix something that wasnt there.
Today was one of Blue Highs busier days, the hallways were packed full of people and families looking at all the sea life. there was a show with some of the sea lions later which is why a lot of the people were here for.
george knew he should probably be there for looks but he also knew that nick and everyone else had it taken care of if he didnt show.

in those few weeks, callie and nick had talked once more and thats when he broke the news that his real name was sapnap. he was clays best friend that he thought had died.
the only reason clay has such a hate against humans is because they so called killed his best friend. but in reality his best friend just ran away onto land. Nick saw from a very young age how corupt the kingdom was, he needed to get out of there before he was arranged a marriage and forced to have a family. After he left, thats when the rest of the kingdom men realized that they could also leave and that it wasnt that hard.
since then, the security around the kingdom had crunched down so its not as hard to leave as you would think but sometimes someone gets out. And the most recent escape was charlie.
callie had no idea on how to tell clay that nick was still alive. She had no idea how to tell him that the only reason he had grown up hating humans was a lie.
the amount of people clay had killed? the amount of ships and boats he had sunk? none of that was forgivable and callie didnt want to know how he would react if he found out that it was all based on a lie.
Callie had been spending more time in the kingdom as well, but she was there for a different reason. since charlie ran away, the people had been getting more and more upset with the king. they were planning to overthrow him and make dream king but they also knew that the king wouldnt give up no matter what.
Clay was aware of this, he had been there in his under water palace watching as riots broke out in the streets and even the guard was starting to turn. His father had the wrong ideas on how to keep everyone in check, and it was starting to back fire on him.
