[A/N: Future book previews won't have a second part]

The fresh air was always a welcome to the outside world where many people lived, early work always had people out of their houses getting down to business waiting for any traveling drivers that were driving on the road to go somewhere.

Finishing cleaning the dishes after breakfast was a chore for Hailey to do every morning while she lived with her grandmother, their home was just in a small town just outside of the big city of Insomnia. Today was her nineteenth birthday and in her line of duties was far from any normal human could do, for she needed to find a mate before she turned twenty or older since she would be labeled as unfitted for marriage and around these parts it was tough to find any sort of mate and her grandmother didn't like the idea of her going off to the city and finding someone.

Putting the last dish away Hailey heard an engine coming closer to the house which made her poke her head over the sink and look out the window seeing a motorcycle pull up to the house, she only saw that once in her life ten years ago. It was her father coming back to the house, he has sent letters while he fought off the daemons, but he hasn't been back for ten years; during the darkness she lost a lot during that time during the war. Hailey didn't know why he would come back here since the city still needed to be rebuild even though peace was around every corner. Putting down the dish towel Hailey walked to the front door to open it, walking out onto the porch she leaned against the porch post crossing her arms a bit.

"Hello father" Hailey called out formally while his attention was brought to his daughter for the first time after ten years of being away from here.

"Hailey, I hope you're doing well" her father spoke to her while he walked up to her staying at the bottom of the stairs looking up at her, she always had the looks of her mother but the stubbornness like he did.

"I got you something, happy birthday" he said again holding out a small wrapped up package that looked very pretty.

"Thank you" she smiled kindly while taking the gift from him wondering what could be inside of the box she held in her hands.

"And what do we owe this meeting, Cor Leonis?" the voice of Hailey's grandmother came to them when she came outside holding her cane in her right hand sharing a scowl on her face when seeing Cor in front of her home.

"I came to speak to you, on something important" Cor spoke knowing that this was going to be a very hard talk since the old woman was a very hard strong woman and didn't back down from anything.

"Of course, and I think I know of what, Hailey go upstairs and wait there" her grandmother spoke in a blunt tone before turning to Hailey ordering her to go upstairs to wait for her.

Hailey nods her head and heads upstairs to wait for her grandmother to say otherwise, slightly closing her door Hailey sat at her desk where her many paintings stayed. Looking down at the gift in her hands she started to open it, wondering what would be inside was making her excited since her grandmother didn't really buy as she called useless trinkets for birthdays or any holidays. Opening up the lid of the gift she could help but be surprised at the necklace that was inside, she knew it belonged to her mother who used to live in the city before she died and left her alone with her grandmother; having something of hers made it more special and she didn't waste any time putting on.

"That is out of the question!!" she heard her grandmother yell which was rare for her to hear but Hailey knew it was something important.

Standing up again she snuck downstairs a bit to listen to what her father and grandmother were talking about; it must have been important if her grandmother was starting to yell at Cor. She stayed behind the wall at the entrance to the living room listening in on the conversation.

"You know she has a better chance plus she will be well taken care of and they area match!" Cor slightly shouted back at her speaking about what was the rarest in their line of blood.

"No! I already lost my daughter when she went to live with you in the city; I am not putting Hailey through any of it" her grandmother fought back knowing that losing her daughter was hard and who knows what else could happen to her granddaughter in that big city.

"I know! Don't think that Christina's death meant nothing to me, but Hailey will be happy and be well looked after because she and our king our mates!" Cor growled at the old woman knowing that the death of his wife and mate hurt the most to him deeply.

"King Noctis?" Hailey couldn't stay silent any longer and stepped into the room hearing enough from what they were talking about; it shocked her the most that she was a mate to royalty.

Both Cor and her grandmother sighed heavily when she entered the room, Cor didn't miss seeing the necklace of her mother's around her neck and he was glad she was happy to wear it. But what she was going to face was going to be a big one.

"Yes, and we need to leave today" Cor answered her telling her that there was no time for waiting around; things needed to be done and Hailey had a lot to learn about being the future queen of Insomnia.

It was a bit a step up from where Hailey came from when she and Cor rode into the city of Insomnia, the city was large and grand from where she could see it; the wall that was once around it was slowly being taken down now that there was peace in the world. But some buildings within the city were still being rebuilt to the former glory; but her heart was thumping even stronger when they stopped at the stair's citadel. Standing there she felt small and intimidated a bit, but she knows she couldn't turn around and run back home since there wasn't anything back there well besides her friends and grandmother there wasn't many things there to do anyways.

She followed her father up the stairs and into the building seeing how polished the inside was she hardly felt like she should be here at all; but something told her she needed to be here and actual try and be someone she knew she needed to be. Standing in front of two large door Hailey could smell a strong scent that smelled toxic in a good way like fresh rain fall and a hint of mint in the mix, the doors opened letting her and Cor walk through seeing the large throne room was a sight to behold; the light from the sun brightened up the room from the large hole in the building to her left, it let in the warm gentle breeze that felt nice.

"Your highness, this is my daughter Hailey Leonis" Cor's voice broke her attention away from the room and brought her attention back to what was happening, seeing her father bowing slightly with his arm over his chest settling on his heart.

Seeing this made her panic a bit since she was late for bowing herself, which she did lowering her head while she heard footsteps echo in the room growing closer to her and her father; before she felt a gentle hand under her chin that pulled her up to look up at the king. Noctis smiled warmly at her, his face was handsome like no other man she met before; she could remember the old pictures of the young prince when he didn't have a beard it made him look like a baby but now, he was a man and a king. His scent was stronger, and it made her heart race with excitement.

"Welcome to Insomnia Hailey" Noctis spoke to her which sounded smooth like honey and Hailey loved hearing it.

"I'm happy to be here, Noctis" Hailey answered back with a warm smile of her own feeling a connection between them that they can already call each other by first names, but if she only knew what kind of deal she was getting into. But her world was going to be turned upside down with the rarest matches in all of the world to know that hasn't happened for over six thousands years.
