Life had a funny thing about taking twists and turns for some good moment and for some bad ones; but sometimes it was just a pain mostly with how life changed people's lives.
That is what happened between Cor and his wife [y/n] of five years; life just got in the way. They didn't have time to spend together, didn't see each other unless it was on very rare occasions or in the middle of the night when Cor came home from work. But they didn't blame it on the work or the things that happened, it just happened and they had a long talk about it. But it wasn't just them that had to deal with this, they had a daughter together they named Annia who was two when they went their separate ways.
Cor would have her over the weekends while [y/n] had her for the rest, it was hard to explain to a two years old about why Cor or [y/n] weren't together anymore even if she didn't understand the small words of where's mom or where's dad in her own words would come out randomly. But as the years went by she was understanding it but it didn't make her feel better. It was like being stuck in a love triangle between parents; Annia didn't know where to belong really when she would see other parents together with their children going out to eat, going to the park and being there every day.
It was on those rare moments where [y/n] would drop off Annia at Cor's place to spend the week with him. Even if it was during the days of the treaty signing between to big countries; Annia was about six now and was staring out the window as the city buildings passed her as her mother drove down the highway to head uptown.
"Okay, we're here" [y/n] said with a smile as she parked her car in front of the apartment building where Cor lived now, it was close to the Citadel probably a walk away.
"K" was Annia's only answer to her which made [y/n] sigh as she got out of the car with Annia grabbing her backpack and extra pillow while Annia held her favorite teddy.
Walking into the building they went up to the third floor coming up to Cor's apartment which [y/n] knocked on; Annia smiled brightly when the door opened showing Cor there with a warm smile on his face he only showed to his daughter and [y/n].
"Daddy!" she chirped when he kneeled down bringing her up in his arms.
"Hey princess, brought everything you needed?" he said while they walked into the apartment letting [y/n] close the door with a smile watching Cor and Annia.
"Yes, I even brought Mr. Marshal too" she said holding her teddy close, she called it Mr. Marshal since Cor gave it to her and she knew what rank he was in the king guards which always made Cor chuckle of the little name.
"Okay, go wash up before lunch" he smiled a bit setting her down on the ground ruffling her brown hair which made he giggle.
"Okay, bye mom!" she said before running to wash up calling back to [y/n].
"Bye" she said back feeling a little bit stressed about something, which Cor seem to notice when Annia ran off.
"What's wrong? Is it your mission?" he asked as he stood beside her placing a hand on her shoulder wondering if it was her big mission she had to go on for a couple of days.
"No its just.....you think Annia hates me?" she sigh before sighing heavily before asking what was really on her mind.
"Why would she hate you?" Cor couldn't help but wonder why [y/n] would think of something like that.
"I don't know, she just doesn't seem to enjoy my company or she doesn't talk to me about any important; so I don't know what to think" [y/n] said trying not to get to worried about her own daughter hating her for some unknown reason.
"Hey, hey I know Annia doesn't hate you; you know how she gets when one of us are out on a mission" Cor said wrapping his arm around her shoulders bringing [y/n] a bit closer to him.
"Okay, yeah....I'll try and call when I get the chance" [y/n] said again nodding her head before returning the side hug to Cor before heading back to the door as Cor opened it for her.
"You make sure you be careful out there too" Cor said as he knew how reckless she could get on missions.
"I promise, bye Cor" she said with a warm smile towards him.
"Bye [y/n]" he smiled back as she walked back down to the lobby of the building, letting Cor close the door.
[y/n] soon pulled up to one of the gates where she would be starting her mission, grabbing her gear before coming out of her car walking over to the truck that would be taking her somewhere.
"You ready to head out?" the voice of Crowe called out to her as she walked closer to the truck.
"ready when you are" [y/n] said as she went into the truck with Crowe coming in behind her closing the truck's doors before they set out on their mission.
