Chapter 13~ I'm not a burden?

The chilled coldness from the night time wind was a real pain the ass during mine and River's ride back home. I could see the goosebumps slowly appearing on my bare arms, seeing this only made me feel colder. I rubbed both my hands against my cold arms in attempt to warm myself up. But because all of my focus was into my personal issue I was not paying attention to the ground ahead of me.
Instantly I felt myself getting thrown off my skateboard. It all happened so fast my brain hadn't even processed what just happened, until I saw River running up to me.
"Holy shit are you okay!?" He asked in a panicked tone. I couldn't even process what happened myself so I didn't even know how to answer that question.
I began to feel a stinging sensation emerging from my backside, which I landed on. I winced in pain after the feeling started getting stronger.
"Y/n are you okay!?" River asked again, unsure if I heard him the first time. I looked up to him standing Infront of me, I think he could see the pain in my eyes.
"My ass hurts" I laughed in pain. I heard a little giggle coming from River but I could tell he was still worried sick.
"I don't know what happened I was too busy trying to warm myself up while riding I forgot to pay attention to what was Infront of me" I explained, still sitting on the cold gravelled footpath. I watched as River instantly took his usual black jacket off and place it over my freezing body in response to my explanation.
"What are you doing?" I asked in a complaining voice.
"Your cold" is all he said back. I didn't want to argue against him about this so I chose to just accept the offer, even if it was making me feel guilty for having his jacket. I just sat there in complete embarrassment, keeping my eyes on the ground to avoid any form of eye contact with River. He then lowered his hand down to my eye level for me to notice. Once I recognized his kind gesture I gladly took it. River very carefully helped me pull myself back up from the jagged ground, as I did this I could feel one of his hands supporting my back so I wouldn't somehow fall back down again.
"You think you'll be alright to keep on skating?" He asked with a concerned expression. I placed my hand on Rivers shoulder and slowly limped my way back to my skateboard.
"I should be fine, thanks Riv" I quickly reply as I sluggishly try and get back on my board.
"Y/n your limping, do you just want me to call Ryan to come pick us up?" River asked demandingly. I already knew he wasn't going to allow me to continue on riding so I just gave in to the offer and nodded in agreement.
I very carefully sat myself down on my board and watched in guilt as River called his twin and began explaining how he needed to come and pick us up.
I felt so bad for bothering Ryan, I know that he's been working his ass off all night with editing and has barely been getting any proper sleep for the past couple weeks, and now he's gotta deal with my clumsy ass.
I kept my head low in defeat and painfully waited for Riv to get off the phone to his brother.
"He's on his way now" River stated as hung up the phone and made his way back to me. I chose not to reply and just keep my head down.
"Y/n what's wrong..?" River asked with complete innocence in his voice. He sat himself down on the gravel footpath to join me. I slowly raised my head back up and faced him.
"I feel bad having to bother Ryan because of my own clumsiness, I know how hard he's been working on editing... I don't want to burden him" I blurted out to River.
"Woah woah relax y/n it's not burdening him at all, Ryan loves you like a sister... you could never be a burden to him" he tried reassuring me. I honestly had no idea how to reply to Rivers statement because non the less, I still felt bad.
I placed my head into the palm of my hands and let out a small sigh.
Out of no where I begin to feel one of Rivs arms wrap around my side. Instantly I assumed that he just did it to try and provent me from getting any colder than I already was.
A couple minutes go by and I finally see Ryan coming from the distance, the blinding headlights on the car made it much easier for me to see my surroundings clearer.
Once Ryan had spotted River and I still remained sitting on the footpath he pulled over Infront of us. Instinctively River reached out for my hand and carefully helped lift me up from the ground. I politely thanked him and turned around to pick up my skateboard, but as I should of expected River had already picked it up for me.
"I've got it, just get in the car" he ordered as he made his way to the boot of the car and placed our boards in there.
As I hopped into the car the temperature instantly changed from cold to warm. I smiled to myself, relieved that I was finally out of that horrid weather.
"Hey you alright, Riv told me what happened?" Ryan turned his head to try and face me from the back seat.
"I'm good now, thank you for picking us up Ryan I'm sorry if it was a burden" I said in a apologetic tone.
"Of course not, you could never be a burden to me y/n" he reassured.
Once again I found myself smiling in relief. As River finally got his ass in the car Ryan started it back up again and immediately, we all got the hell out of there.

- Arriving home -

Forgetting all about my injured backside I hastily exited the car and sped walk to the front door. This time I did not have to wait for River to open the house so instantly I let myself in.
"Hey y/n your finally back, are you all good Ryan briefly told me what happened?" Wyatt warmly greeted me.
"Yeah I should be alright... just need to lay down for a bit I think" I suggested.
"Sounds like a good idea" Wyatt smiled back.
Once the twins finally made their way inside and River locked the front door behind him as usual I went up to him and grabbed my skateboard off of him. I thanked him again for carrying my board even though he didn't need to. As I started making my way towards my room Copper gradually approached towards my feet and greeted me.
"Oh hey sweetheart are you coming to say hello as well?" I bent down and petted him as I began talking in the same baby voice I use when talking to all animals.
"Hey he's my sweetheart not yours" I heard River say in a sarcastic whiny voice from behind me.
"Not anymore bitch" I teased back and quickly flipped him off as I sped walked back to my bedroom.
"Heyy!" He called out in the same whining tone. I just chuckled and shook my head as I went to open my door.
