ENID
In preparation for a new week at the company, tomorrow, being Monday, I spent the whole of the night doing research and preparing important files, including the ones meant specially for Chase. By the time I was done with everything, I could only get an hour sleep before it was morning.
Considering how tired I was, not to speak of the headache I could feel coming, I wished I could get some more sleep but I knew better to force myself out of bed in order to get ready for work.
After a warm shower, which helped to make me feel a lot much better, I went ahead to get dressed.
Without a bandage around my now fully healed ankle that which means I could finally resume wearing heels starting from today, the thought alone kind of lifted my spirits and this morning, I went for a pair of black heels.
A few minutes after six, I was ready for work.
I had Dan drive me to the company afterwards, and I had seen the company's building come into view in less than thirty minutes.
About the building, if you would ask me, aside from its glassy exterior, I'd describe it in two words- massive and luxurious.
It wasn't until I stepped inside and was going to start heading towards the elevator that the idea occurred to me to send a short text to Chase.
There was the possibility of us running into each other and him not knowing it was me because I had cut my hair and must look different from what I looked like when we met at the dinner during the weekend, therefore I felt it was necessary for me to let him know my hair was now in a straight bob. I had read that people suffering from prosopagnosia could differentiate other people by paying attention to their hairstyles and qualities such as gait, voice, and so on.
I double-checked the text once I was done typing and had decided just before sending it to him to include also what I was wearing and the color as well.
I reached the elevator just then and had readily stepped inside the moment it opened up, except, I was surprised to see Evelyn just as I turned to face the elevator doors which hadn't closed back yet. More of my surprise being from seeing her donned in a similar outfit as me.
I mean, how could she, today of all days, be donned in a green dress as well?
It wasn't exactly the same design, but it was almost the same color as mine, which was a dark shade of green compared to hers, but I had only said green in the text that I sent to Chase.
Aside from that, her hair had always been in a short straight bob. What's more, when we both looked so much alike, she would fit perfectly into the description of what I would be looking like if Chase was to see her first.
I scolded myself internally for not thinking of that before having Maya cut my hair when she hadn't even wanted to.
Her face contorted with distaste, "Are you kidding me right now?" She asked in a low, cold, and equally irritated tone as she stepped inside beside me, leaving more than enough space between us. I watched with disinterest knowing very well what she meant by that. The elevator started moving that moment.
"Everything is going to be fine as long as Chase doesn't see her first," I thought to myself.
"Do you think you can stop staring?" Evelyn demanded, bringing me out of my thought. Aware I had been staring like she had pointed out, I diverted my gaze elsewhere. "Whatever made you decide to cut your hair, I don't want to know, but don't you think you should go home and change into something else?" She said, looking right at me with so much anger.
