ENID
"Chase, can I tell you a secret?" I succeeded in faking a serious tone. This happened to be a little while after the car got on the road.
Right from the moment we got settled in the car, he had closed his eyes, and his brows had also remained knitted.
At my question, he opened his eyes and turned his head slightly to the side to look at me but didn't say anything.
I decided to continue anyway, "You can't tell anyone." Saying that, I leaned in a little closer and said quietly, "I have super powers." I cleared my throat and sniffled a little dramatically before drawing back briefly.
I waited for his reaction afterwards, but there was no change in his countenance whatsoever. If anything, the frown on his face only seemed to have deepened the more. And his glare right now? Only if looks could kill.
At this point, I had no other idea of what to do or say to make him smile. Even my attempt to tell him a knock knock joke earlier, hoping that would put him in a good mood but which he wouldn't hear had also failed.
I turned serious myself, "Do you think we can eat dinner together this weekend? There is something that I need to tell you." I couldn't believe that I finally mustered the courage to say that.
Judging from his lack of response, I could tell that he probably thought I was fooling around again, so I thought I'd better clarify, "I'm serious this time."
"Text me the time and the name of the restaurant where you would like us to meet before that day."
I was going to make a comment like, 'You're making it sound like it's a business meeting', but I thought it was rather best to keep that to myself. "Sure," I said instead.

On Saturday evening, when Chase and I were supposed to have dinner together, I woke up feeling energised from a nap.
Knowing I had a dinner to get ready for, I was going to start heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower when my phone, which I left on the headboard, started buzzing.
Picking it up, I found out it was Chase calling. I checked for the time to make sure I wasn't mistaken about what the time says. Having confirmed that I wasn't since it was still 6 pm and not 7, which was the time that I texted him, I went ahead and picked up the call.
"Hello,"
"Something urgent suddenly came up. I don't think I'll be able to make it for the dinner we were supposed to have together this evening. I'm sorry."
"Oh, is that true? Maybe next time then." I said, feeling a little disappointed.
"Yeah," He replied before hanging up.
What if I don't have the courage to tell him the truth after tonight?
I was going to tell him about that night six years ago, but I guess that would have to wait now.
I'd thought about it long and hard, and my final decision was to tell him everything now before he would find out on his own later on because matters of the past like this one always seem to reveal itself at the end somehow and it might be impossible to fix things by then.
I thought of going to the bathroom still, not to take a shower anymore, but only to relieve myself.
It was around 10 pm, however, while I was working on my laptop when I heard a knock at the door of my room. I knew it was definitely Sarah, but it was kind of rare to have her knocking on the door of my room this late.
