It's Thursday and my dad insists on me going to school today instead of waiting until Monday. "The sooner the better!" He would say. We debated about this and, well, I lost... of course.
But anyway, I slip on my black leggings and white t-shirt, tucking it in my leggings a bit in the front, then covered it with a light denim shirt, and paired it with black converse. Keeping my hair hanging loose, I walk into the bathroom. Carefully putting my contacts in and applying a little bit of makeup I finished getting ready and grab my backpack and phone.
I get smacked in the face with the eroma of pancakes. Yes. Yes, yes, yes!
"Yesss!" I drop my backpack against my chair and sit impatiently, tapping my knuckles on the table and wriggling in the chair. My dad plops a pancake on my plate and I put a thin layer of butter, then strawberries, syrup, and whipped cream. He knows me so well.
Before I take one bite, my dad slides a glass of orange juice besides my plate and I say, greatfully, "You're too good for me." And that's true. My dad has always been there for me, coming to my piano recitals when I was in elementart- I quit in middle school because of my basketball practices and games, which my dad also went too-, helping me ace my upcoming tests, and everything else. And in return, I'm his little princess that will always be by his side till the end.
"You're too good for me." He points to me, then him for emphisis. I playfully roll my eyes at him and he replies with a chuckle. "We're leaving in 10!" Dad walks up to his room, probably getting ready, and I dig into my breakfast. Moaning a little too much because of how good it is. Oops.

I walk on the campus and look at the school before me. It's a bit smaller than my old school but I like the entrance to the building. There's a wide walk way towards the front doors, a big water fountain in the middle of it, and lots of green on the sides. It's like in the movies were they show the front of the school and the students are either walking around, laying on the grass, playing catch, or sitting near the trees socializing. My dad and I walk inside the building and we see three hallways. One that goes straight, one that goes left, and one that goes right. The office is located on the hallway to the left, so we take a left and step into the office.
Once we're in, we're greeted by the front office ladies, making me remember and miss the front desk ladies at my old school. There was this one that was literally my best friend. Is that weird? Naw... The one closest to the door greets us with a smile and says, "Hello!"
I side ways glance at my dad and greet back, "Hello, I'm new to Hopkins High School. My name is Madelyn Archer."
She smiles and looks up my name on the computer. "Right, I'll be right back with your schedule and a person to guide you around the school. Is that alright?" She waits for my permission for, I'm guessing, someone to guide me. I mean, I don't mind someone helping me throughout the day so, why not?
"That's perfect!" I smile and watch her walk into another room. I turn to dad and give him a thumbs up. I look around the office and see the window out to the hallways. It's starting to fill with students but only, like, three students in each hallway. Soon enough, the office lady comes back with another girl right behind her.
"Madelyn, this is Sam. Sam, Madelyn." She looks at me, then at her, then back at me with a big smile on her face.
I hold out my hand and say, "Call me Maddie." She takes my hand, and her grasp is very light, like I'm very delicate or something. She smiles and says, "Hey Maddie." I smile back and take this time to look at her. She has very pretty blonde hair and billiant hazel eyes. Her skin is glowing, even under this yellow office lighting. Her nice, rosy lips curve up into a smile and I decide to stop looking at her before she thinks I'm weird.
The lady inturupts and says, "Sam will guide you around and hang out with you for the next couple days." She smiles and hands me my schedule. "So, if you'd like, you can start going to your locker and get ready for your homeroom." With that she turns on her heels and leaves Sam, Dad, and me in the office with the other lady at the desk.
I turn to dad and say, "Okay! I'll see you after school?" I give him a smile and he says, "Alright, sweetie. Have fun." He leaves the office and out the building. I turn to Sam.
"So? Let's get started!" Sam says and we walk out the door. She tells me my locker is located on the second flood. We walk upstairs and walk down one of the three hallways. I turn my combonation and put all my stuff in my locker. I look at my schedule and I see ENGLISH as my first period. I grab my binder and shut my locker.
"Ready?" Sam asks with the same smile that she used back in the office.
"Ready."

"Oh, my god, were you okay?" Sam asks with the most worried look on her face, furrowed eyebrows and everything.
"Yeah, I was fine. Horrible expirence though." I chuckle and buy my lunch. I told her about my near death expirence. About when I almost drowned when I tried to swim to my floatie that was slowley drifting away from me.
"Anyway, how are you liking Hopkins High?" She asks as she pays for her lunch.
"It's great! I like the teachers." I answer with the first thing that came to my mind. It's true though, they seem really chill and funny. Their not the ones that call on you randomly or stress you out.
"And if it's okay with you... my friends wanted me to sit with them at lunch." Sam says and studies my face, as if she looking for the slightest look of disaproval.
"Yeah, sure! What are they like?" I've always been worried about meeting new people. I always embarrass myself in some way. She takes a while to search for an answer.
"Oh, their awesome!" She pauses and adds, "Except for Johnny..." I look at her and wait for her to continue. But she doesn't.
"What about Johnny?" I suddenly worry. Is he a bad boy? Is he a trouble maker? Will he get me into trouble?
"Oh, nothing really... He's just... not polite." She says slowley and we walk to her table.
I ask, "Should I be worried?" She quickly looks at me then looks away.
"No. You'll be fine." We go closer to the table and I see four other people sitting there. Three guys and one girl. As they see Sam they holler things like, "Yo Sam!", "Hey girl!", and "Where've you been?"
Sam smiles and says, "Wassup guys?" She looks my way and says, "This is Maddie. She's new and she's gonna sit with us for the next couple days." She slids into the seats and I slide in the seat across from her.
"So, Maddie, this is Aaron." She points to the guy with long, shaggy brown hair. He glances at me and gives me a quick, "Hey." then continues to dig into his food.
"that's Zach." She points to a guy that has dirty blonde hair with a very defined face structure that's very attractive, he doesn't say anything and just looks at me.
"this is Gabby." She points to the girl sitting next to me and she says, "Hey! How's it going?" I respond with, "Great, great." I look at Sam and she points to the last guy I haven't been introduced to yet.
"and this is Johnny." He looks at me and smirks. "Hey gorgeous."
I feel myself blush and try to hide it. But it was pointless because he looks at me and laughs. Then all the attention is off of me and they talk about something else.
As I'm halfway done with my sandwich I pay more attention the conversation. "So, what do you say?" Johnny says to the group with the most serious face ever. "Let's hang at the beach and drown little kids." I stop my sandwich halfway and leave my mouth hanging open. My gaze slowly drifts to him as he looks at everyone else. "I'm kidding..." Everyone is still speechless. "Guys, seriously. Anyway, let's hang out later today."
When no one answers, he turns to me and says, "What do you say, Mads?"
