I wake up to the sound of my phone. Instead of ignoring it, I check to see who it is before I ignore it. My phone reads: Gabby, and it says it's 10:03. Figuring that I've slept in enough I answer with a weak, "Hey Gabby."
"Maddie. Uh, sorry for last night, I-I don't really know what got to me." She chokes out.
"That's alright. It's not like I was having the time of my life." I joke.
"Yeah, but did Sam ever tell you what happened to me?" She asks. Does she not know what really happened to her last night. I mean, she looked awful and drunk as hell but Sam didn't tell her or something?
"Uh, no. But she did look very bothered by what happened." There was a pause and I add, "What do you remember?"
It takes her a while to respond but then she says, "I remember hanging out with these guys and they offered my a lot to drink. Um, I accepted and they started getting all close to me and- I don't know? I can't remember anyting after that." She takes a deep breath and says, "I'm so stupid, I asked Sam what happened and she sounded all embarrassed. Could you figure out what happened for me?"
I look around the room nervously. Those guys made her all drunk? What were they planning on doing to her? Rape? No, they wouldn't be capable of doing that. But what?
"Uh, I'll try my best." I choke out.
"Okay, thanks." There's a scilence. "Um," Gabby starts, "Do you wanna meet with me and everyone else at the mall later?"
"Oh, sure." I respond. But, honestly, I don't really want to go. I mean, they're fun to hang out with but from what I've heard from Matt, that's either true or not true, I want to be cautions. I don't want to get into something like that one guy got into with Johnny.
"Cool. I'll text you the details." She hungs up and I sit there. I open Spotify and play my favorite playlist that contains indie pop, soul, and hiphop. I hop into the shower and get ready for the day. I waltz downstairs and come into an empty kitchen. I walk towards the breakfast bar and find a note waiting for me. It reads:
Hey sweetie, I got called for a meeting and I had to leave bright and early. I'll be back at around noon and I prepped french toast for you to eat. I'll see you later!
kisses, Dad
Wow thanks dad. I walk towards the fridge and took out the ingredients for the french toast, and brought out bananas, syrup, and powdered sugar.

I walk through the doors of the mall and was swarmed of people. I look at the map and find Starbucks. Luckily I went into the entrance that was closest to Starbucks and I get there in no time and, thinking I'm early, I order a drink and wait for my name to be called.
"Mads, there you are."
I turn around and I see Johnny at the entrance of Starbucks. "Hey, where's everyone else?" I look behind him and there's no one else there. "I thought we were meeting here?" I ask, confused.
"Yeah, a little change of plans." He simply says.
Without saying another word I turn around and go back to wait for my drink. It took a couple minutes until a worker called, "Maddie!"
I took my drink, thanked the person, grabbed a straw and started walking out of the place. I couldn't find Johnny anywhere and when I spotted him he was already really far away from me. I quickly walked as fast as I could to catch up to Johnny becasue I didn't know where the others were and I didn't want to run and possible run into someone.
When I was a few feet away from him I say, "Hey! Johnny, wait up!" I ran next to him and I ask, "Why'd you leave me?"
He shrugged, "You were taking to long and I wanted to get back."
