I clutched my head in fear as I stood facing my bed. The bed that I haven't even gotten to sleep in one night before I brought a man into it. I finally let go of Weston and I jump into another problem. The only thing I can ask for is not having an abusive partner again. And maybe not to be pregnant but there are exceptions.
I cautiously opened my bedroom door and peered out across the hall for any signs of Brooke. Since there were none, I tightened my bath robe and tiptoed past her closed door into the bathroom.
It was a nice bathroom, but not as decorated as the rest of the apartment. It already came with all the normal bathroom items like a toilet and shower. The only things that were personalized were the shower curtains and bath mat.
I took off my robe and turned on the shower, waiting for the hot water to kick in. I made sure the temperature was nearly, but not quite, scalding and stepped in. I tried my best to burn away the events that happened in the last twelve hours, but also to try and remember what happened. Dan kissed me with drunken, slobbery lips and I kissed him back. I know I shouldn't have because when you're drunk you probably won't stop.
I don't know how long I took in there, but I turned the water off and grabbed a towel from a rack on the wall. I wrapped it around myself and returned to my room.
Dan was still sleeping, which was a good thing, and I opened my suitcase. I chose a deep plum tank top and black shorts and changed warily, knowing he would wake up any time now. I walked over to a small mirror by my window and put my hair into a high ponytail. I noticed I had dark circles under my eyes, and grabbed my concealer from my bag and applied underneath my lashes. It didn't do much but it took most of the darkness away.
I put my robe and towel on the carpet next to the clothes basket and walked over to Dan. He looked adorable when he slept, his mouth slightly gaping and the flop of fringe hanging into his eyes.
I shook him gently on the shoulder and whispered his name, but he didn't respond. I gripped his shoulder in my hand and pushed him onto his back, and squealing in fright as I hurried to cover him back up. He stirred a little bit but kept his eyes closed.
I snapped in his ear and yelled loud enough for Brooke to wake up, "Daniel! You wake up right now!"
Dan's eyes popped wide open and stared at my face, his expression went from surprised to confused. He looked around himself and back at me.
"Dan you need to leave, now." I got up from my crouching position beside the bed and picked up his clothes, "You might want these," I said as I threw his clothes at him. I stormed out of the room and slammed the door.
Brooke walked out of her room ruffling her bedhead hair, trailed by our puppy and asked a question with her eyes "What the hell was that about?" I dismissed the question with a wave of my hand and walked towards the kitchen.
Brooke and Phil went grocery shopping last night after dinner when we all split up, so we had plenty of cereal to last a month. I grabbed the cocoa pebbles, a bowl, and a spoon and placed them on the counter. I leaned down into the fridge and came up with the milk and a fresh wave of pain.
I put the milk down and pressed my palms into my temples. "That was your fault, going to the bar. Deal with the pain." Brooke said with a wink.
I gave her a disgusted expression and she laughed, going over to the TV and flipping through the channels. I finished assembling my breakfast and thought of something.
"You have Phil's number, don't you?"
"Yeah, why?"
"I need to give him a heads up. About... stuff." I coughed.
