A Month Later...

"Phil! Give it back!" I watched Brooke chasing him around the house. He was holding her phone hostage and was teasing her about her height, even though she was taller than me. I was giggling the entire time, making no effort to help her at all.

I was sitting next to Dan on his couch, laughing until our sides hurt. "Hey Charlotte, you'd get a lot more of this if you stayed over and watched movies with us tonight. It'll be fun."

"Sure! Should I bring snacks?" I twisted my hair and bit my lower lip, thinking about the doughnuts I have in my cupboard. Chocolate covered with coconut shavings. Yum!

"Oh Definitely!" Dan winked, then I noticed it was a little too quiet. Dan and I looked at each other, both realizing the same thing and looked around for Brooke and Phil.

Phil's door was closed, so I held a finger up to my lips and placed my hand on the doorknob. I felt Dan's figure close behind me and I slowly turned the soundless doorknob.

A squirt of water hit my cheek and I squealed, alerting Dan and he hurried inside Phil's room. He and Brooke were aiming miniature water guns at us and started chasing us around the apartment.

"No, Brooke stop!" I screamed over my shoulder as I banged my hip into one of the dining room's various multi-colored chairs. The pain was excruciating and I screamed as I fell face first onto the floor.

Apparently I made a big crashing sound when I fell, because Dan, Phil and Brooke all ran over to me. I was fine, except for a newly forming bruise on my hip.

"Oh my gosh, Charlotte! Are you OK?" Phil grabbed my hand and helped me up. His hands were really soft, and pale for that matter, but then again he was just really pale. His eyes showed real concern and I could tell he wasn't playing around now.

"Yeah, I-I'm fine. Just a bit clumsy." I looked at the expectant faces around me and smiled to break the awkwardness of the situation.

I quickly snatched the water gun from Phil's hand and his jaw dropped. I spinned around and pointed it at all of them with a smile, "You have three seconds to run."

Dan's eyes widened and made motions with his hands in a downwards motion, "Whoa, whoa. We can talk about this."

I squirted the water at his forehead and it got his fringe wet, making me laugh even harder than I already was. He closed his eyes and held up a finger, "Now you've crossed a certain line."

Dan charged for me, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder. I screamed and watched the carpet racing by and Dan's butt. I glared at it with squinted eyes.

I heard a door close and I was gently thrown off his back into a black and grey bedsheet. I was dazed for a hot minute but regained awareness when I saw Dan lurking closer. He had his hands propped out in front of him like he was going to lunge.

He actually did lunge at me, but for a different reason. He was tickling me under my ribs, causing me to go into a fit of giggles and "stop!"s. He finally did let up when I tried to keep quiet, not making a sound.

"You have too much power." I glared at Dan as he walked away from me, and he opened his door to face Phil gaping at him. Brooke looked in at me with a look that said I had lost the battle.

I got up from the comfortable bed and made my way to the front room where I had put my phone. I got a new notification from Facebook that Phil had requested to be friends. I accepted and swept a hand through my slightly tangled hair.

"Hey guys, it's been fun but we have to get going. Brooke and I are having dinner before our movie night." I winked at Brooke and waved to the boys.
