The sun was just about to set in about an hour and Dan and I were making conversation with my family. I was curled up on his shoulder and he had his arm around me comfortably. My heart yearned for moments like this, ones that were peaceful and calm.
"Charlotte, how did you and Dan meet?" My mom asked curiously. I saw in her face that she liked him and wanted to know more.
"Well," I craned my neck to look at Dan, "We met at a Starbucks in the airport when I arrived, I forgot to transfer my money and he paid for my order. We were on the same train too."
"Aw, you sweet boy. I can see you're perfect for our little girl." Mom smiled at us two and Dad looked like he was still deciding. I wished that he would approve of us being together. Dan isn't just a guy who wears a lot of black clothes and has ear piercings, he's a really nice guy and I love him.
"How long are you guys staying?" My dad cleared his throat and kept a straight face.
"We're going back on Thursday." I answered.
"Well, we'll leave you guys alone. I imagine you're very tired." My mom got up and pulled Dad along with her to their room.
I closed my eyes and snuggled deeper into Dan's chest and he leaned his head against mine. The moment seemed like it couldn't get any more perfect. All that mattered right now was Dan and I.
"Do you wanna watch the sunset?" I popped one eye open and looked towards the window to the patio. The sun was glowing through clouds and transforming the world orange and yellow like an autumn day. I nodded and Dan started to get up off the couch, expecting me to actually walk when I'm this tired.
"Carry me?" I reached my arms up and Dan laughed, picking me up under my knees and back. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and he walked outside towards a hammock that my mom put there when I was sixteen.
He set me down on the thick fabric and walked around to the other side to lay down next to me. Dan put his arm around my waist and we watched the sun setting behind my house.

"Aw, look how cute you two are." I heard my mom's voice a couple years away and opened my eyes. I was laying half on Dan's chest and he was on his back with his arm loosely hanging around my waist.
"Mom, you're being a bit creepy." I said as quietly as possible so I don't wake Dan up. I looked down at his sleeping face and he seemed content just sleeping next to me. I smiled and ran and my fingers through his hair.
"It's almost eleven, you guys should start getting up. I'm making lunch." She left the room and I waited until the door closed to kiss Dan's lips. He stirred and opened one eye to look at me, then closed it again and snuggled closer.
"C'mon Dan, we need to get up." I whispered. He shifted to hold himself up by his elbow and I smiled. I rolled over and stood up, realizing that I'm still wearing the clothes I came in yesterday.
I unzipped my suitcase and started to hang up shirts in my closet and put pants and shorts in my dresser. After I was done I picked out a white tank top with crossed straps and a blue and white stripped maxi skirt. I felt like dressing up a bit more today because today I would hopefully tell my parents about my baby.
I walked out to the bathroom to change and brush my hair, deciding to leave it down today. It has actually grown a little bit past my shoulders since I moved. I messed with it a little but for the most part it stayed naturally straight. I walked back into my room and saw that Dan changed already into today's clothes; black skinny jeans and a black button up shirt. He was crouching in front of his suitcase and putting in his earrings.
