✵Aya never really understood the concept of love. She never really thought that she would have something like love with someone who she truly loved. Being the eldest daughter of the chief, she was soon to be Olo'eyktan, Meaning she would be ordered to mate with whomever her mother and father said.
Aya never really thought that was love. Love being forced wasn't truly love, It wasn't true love, It was fake, But when Aya first made eye contact with that forest boy that flew down to her village on an Ikran, Her heart told her this was it, This was that true love that she was seeking all along.
As she sat along the beach, On the warm sand, holding a hand over her growing stomach and looking out towards the ocean to see her young daughter building a sand castle with the help of her father, It's never been more clear to her than ever before.
Aya couldn't stop the smile that made it's way onto her face as Loa'tey, Her beautiful five year old daughter got up and tackled her father to the sand after he had accidentally destroyed a part of her castle. Aya held a hand up to her mouth to stiffle her laughter as Neteyam let her win against him as he was pinned to the sand, His daughter on top of his stomach.
Loa'tay had gained her father's genes the most, With her beautiful deep blue skin, And beautiful yellow eyes, Along with her skinny arms, But what she had of her mother consisted of a paddle like tail that she had already mastered in the water.
Loa'tey sat up on her knees, Her tail moving from side to side, showing her excitement as she looked to her mother. "Mommy I won!" She giggled as Neteyam tilted his head in his mate's direction as it layed on the sand, His face showing a huge smile.
"You did?" Aya said, Sounding suprised as she smiled at her daughter. "I did! I did! I did!" She was now jumping up and down on her knees, winding Neteyam out as he groaned.
Loa'tey yelped as her father swiftly got up and started chasing after her towards the water. "No! Daddy no!" She giggled as she ran. She dived into the water and swiftly swam away, knowing she was already faster in the water than her father.
Neteyam haulted at the water's edge, The waves washing over his feet as he laughed. "Oh you cheater" Loa'tey surfaced with a big smile. "I didn't cheat! You can't swim fast!" She yelled back with a laugh.
Neteyam chuckled, shaking his head back and forth slowly. "Alright, You win Loa" He held his hands up in surrender before chuckling and walked towards his mate.
Aya looked up to her mate with a smile as he went to sit to her right. "You lost to a five year old huh?" She couldn't hold in the smile as Neteyam scoffed, Bringing his left arm to wrap around her shoulder as she leaned into him.
"She's strong already" He chuckled, bringing his right arm to lay over Aya's stomach, over her hand. Aya signed in content. Neteyam's left arm that had wrapped around her shoulders moved down to her waist, his hand hovering over a tattoo on her side.
After Aya was shot in her side, She woke up just 3 days after, Neteyam never left her side. A couple weeks after she had woke, Neteyam led Aya to a small forest off to the side of the ocean where they bonded, becoming mates for life, And neither of them regretted it.
After her gun shot wound, Her mother had taken it upon herself to have Aya get a tattoo around her wound in honor of surviving such a death defying issue. Her tattoo was of Fre'du, her spirit sister circling around the top of her wound with the ocean circling along the bottom.
And sooner than they had both expected, they had become parents. Loa'tey was born. Aya and Neteyam had partnered together to name their daughter. Loa'tey had been named after Lo'ak and Tsireya, Both of their siblings.
After the war with the sky people, Jake, Ney'tiri, Kiri, Tuk, Spider, Lo'ak, And Tsireya had left to go back to the forest. While Neteyam decided on staying behind with his mate, Becoming the first Omatikaya leader to the Metkayina people, And they accepted him.
It was hard for Neteyam to stay behind while his family left for their old home, And Aya saying bye to her sister as she leaves for the forest with Lo'ak. Aya had tried telling Neteyam he shouldn't leave his family for her but he didn't give her a choice and chose to stay behind to live at the ocean with the love of his life. And now, He had his very own Daughter, And a soon to be second child. He couldn't have asked for anything more.
Aya and Neteyam looked towards their Daughter after she had gotten out of the water to work on her castle again, trying to fix the part that Neteyam had accidentally destroyed.
"I keep saying it, but I couldn't have asked for anything other than this" Aya softly spoke as she stayed leaning against Neteyam's chest, his thumb rubbing circles along her tattoo.
Neteyam looked down to his mate with so much love in his eyes. "You have no idea how happy I am, How happy I've been ever since I first saw you on that beach." Neteyam said back with a smile. Aya tilted her head to look up at him with a smile of her own right as Neteyam leaned down and closed the gap between their lips.
"Ewwww!" They both pulled back and looked to their daughter as she was stood in front of her castle. "That's so gross!" She said before running off to the ocean again. Both Neteyam and Aya couldn't hold in their laughs as they watched their daughter retreat into the ocean.
"She is definitely your daughter" Aya said. Neteyam looked to Aya with a fake, hurt expression, holding his right hand to his heart. "Ouch" Aya scoffed happily before leaning back onto his chest, letting out a content sigh.
Neteyam brought both hands to circle around her body, laying on her baby bump. Aya took her own hands and layed them over his. "I see you" Aya spoke softly, her eyes closed as she took in the warmth and love of her mate.
Neteyam's face hurt from how big of a smile he had but he didn't care, All he cared about was his mate as she lay in his embrace, Their daughter as she played and swam in the ocean, And their soon to be second child.
And as Aya layed there, Her thoughts ran with memories, not just with Neteyam, but of her childhood, Her early teen years, And now.
Aya always thought she would never be good enough for anyone, But she was proven wrong. She had a loving mate by her side 24/7, A beautiful daughter, and a second child on the way. That was all the proof she needed, especially after a nine worded sentance, That small little sentance that pushed away all the bad thoughts for good.
