The One-night Stand

"Well, I have a client in twenty minutes so whatever you have on your mind you have to tell me now." Louis smiled.

Harry took a deep breath.
"There's no easy way to say this and I'm sorry this will come as a shock to you."

Louis looked confused. Harry took out his phone and found a photo of Lee and placed his phone on the table and pushed it toward Louis who looked down at the photo.
"You have a kid? That's not a problem, Harry."

"His name is Leander, we call him Lee. He's 17 months old." Harry began.

"Okay." Louis said. He looked at the picture again and then he snapped his eyes at Harry.
"17 months?"

Harry could see that Louis was doing the calculations in his head. His eyes grew wide and he stared at Harry in disbelief.
"Lee is the result of our night together. He's yours."

Louis' hand flew to his mouth and he let out a gasp.
"What?"

"I'm sorry to just spring this on you. I would have told you sooner if I had known your name." Harry said. He sounded way more calm than he felt.

Louis had gone pale. Harry was afraid that he was about to faint.
"He's mine?" Louis said.

"Yes." Harry confirmed.

"Me girlfriend will fucking love this." Louis muttered.

"You have a girlfriend?" Harry questioned.

Louis must have seen how confused that made him.
"Bisexual. That's not the issue. I have a kid?"

"Yes. I want to make it perfectly clear that I'm not expecting anything from you. I just thought you deserved to know. If this messes up your relationship you don't have to be involved at all. I just thought you should know." Harry said.

Louis looked furious all of a sudden.
"If this is me child it's not an inconvenience. Of course, I want to be involved!"

"If?" Harry questioned.

"I wanna do a paternity test. I hope you don't have a problem with that?" Louis said sternly.

Harry felt a little offended but of course he understood why Louis wanted a paternity test.
"Of course not."

"Great. I'll set it up immediately. If that is me kid I don't want to waste another second getting to know him. I already missed 17 months!" Louis said, sounding upset.

"If I had known any way to find you I would have. I hope you can believe that." Harry said.

Louis gave him a calculating look then he relaxed.
"I believe you. You told me now. If you had wanted you could just have walked out of here, ditched the job and never looked back."

"Thanks. About the job, do you still wanna hire me?" Harry asked and bit his lower lip.

Louis hesitated for a second but then he nodded his head.
"I'm obviously in shock and this complicates things but the job offer is still on the table."

"Then I still accept." Harry said.

"I have your number. I will contact you for the paternity test. Please swab for his DNA as soon as I set it up. I need to know if he's mine."Louis almost pleaded.

"I will." Harry promised.

Harry has to sit down at the nearest bench as soon as he left the firm. He hadn't expected to find Lee's other parent while applying for a job. He didn't know how to feel about it. Lee deserved to know where he came from and Louis deserved to know he had a child, but what would happen now? What if Louis tried to take Lee from him? He obviously made a lot of money and he had a partner. He was a freaking lawyer for crying out loud! He knew every twist and turn and could probably argue a case for full custody. Unless he was a lousy lawyer? Harry hoped so.

He hurried to his car and drove faster than the speed limit to get home. He just wanted to hug his son. He had never been away from him this long.

Lee was asleep when he got home but he picked him up gently and just held him. His mum came into the nursery. She immediately saw that something was up.
"What's wrong?"

Harry put Lee back in his crib and they walked out of the nursery.
"I found Lee's dad, I mean, the guy I was with. I told him about Lee."

"Oh. Really?" His mother Anne said.

"He wants a paternity test." Harry said.

"Well, that makes sense. Could it be someone else?" Anne asked carefully.

"No!" Harry huffed.

"Then you got nothing to worry about." Anne said.

"I have everything to worry about! What if he tries to take Lee from me?"

"Why would he do that?" Anne wondered.

"I don't know! I don't exactly know him, Mum." Harry whined.

"I don't think he would do that but if he tries we'll get the best lawyer possible. Don't worry. " Anne tried to comfort him.

Louis called the next morning.
"Hi, it's Louis."

"Uhm, hi." Harry greeted.

"I set up an appointment for eh, Lee today at one in Doncaster. Can you make it?" Louis asked politely.

"Sure. Where?" Harry asked.

Louis gave him the address to the clinic.
"I'll give me DNA sample in an hour. I made sure to rush the result. We will have it later this afternoon. Leave your e-mail address at the clinic and they will send you the result. I'll get it too."

"Okay." Harry replied.

He got Lee ready in time and put him in the car seat. His mum came along for support and to keep Lee happy during the two-hour car ride.

They found the clinic and Harry carried Lee inside. They registered at the reception desk and sat down to wait. Five minutes later Harry brought Lee to a room and a nurse swabbed his mouth to extract his DNA.

Afterward, they went apartment hunting since they were in Doncaster. Harry enlisted all the rental apartment agencies with gated Omega places (surprisingly few) and then they ate an early dinner before they headed back home.
