Chapter 7

Three days have passed since we departed. Just done from another game of chess, he notified me that soon, we will arrive at the place he talked about. Preparing for the next jumpspace, I hurrily enter the control room to set it up.

As I work on that, I take a small peek from the side and notice him putting on his light armor. Having the time to observe it closely, I realize how good he actually looks in it. He has his white blouse on with gold platings and an armor resembling 'Nian' on his right arm. Two brown capes accentuated with the golden pattern around it drapes nicely over his shoulders. On his forearms, leather vambraces wrap around them. He wears red pants with thigh harnesses on. I solely focus on him, forgetting what to do. He then starts putting on his waist armor and multiple belts. Almost down to the last belt, he suddenly looks at me. As if he knew all along, he gave me a knowing smirk. I flinch a little, feeling embarrassed for staring at him. In fact, how long have I...

"Enjoying the show?" He asks with an eyebrow raised, his eyes showing a hint of mischief. I reply with a blush creeping up slowly, "N-no... Sorry. You can carry on, I'll go.." After a momentary pause, he laughs softly at my reaction. "How adorable." He comments while he connects the last belt. I quickly walk away and continue where I let off with a red face. 'That guy, really...'

He chuckles deeply as he sees me focusing on what I'm doing. He wordlessly shakes his head slowly, his smirk fading into a gentle smile. 'She's so easily flustered... Heh.'  Making sure everything is neat, he then ties a part of his hair back into a ponytail with a red ribbon. Patting his hair down a little, he sits down on the chair with one leg over the other. While waiting for me, he decides to bring out his spear, looking at it intently. His gaze stays on the spear, his mind pondering deeply...

Everything is ready, and now I just need to notify him. I leave the room and say, "Jing Yuan, it's all set up now. Ready yourself so you won't ricochet around the ship.." He lays back on the chair, sighing contently as he grins. "Says the one who needed my help." I roll my eyes at him, "Need your help for what?" Not answering my question, he keeps looking at me, his grin growing slightly bigger.  "Oh... That time... But hey! That was different!" I retort at him. In response, he only shrugs while his grin still stays. "Either way, you needed my help, or else you would've bounced around the ship." I give him a dirty look before I walk back to the control room to initiate the jumpspace. "You know, Y/n, don't be shy if you want to do that again~" He adds teasingly. "Ugh... Shut up.." I reply in frustration. He can't help but notice how red I look when I go back into the room.

I calm myself down a bit and re-check everything once again. After making sure it's all okay, I press the button to start the process. Just as my hand is about to lay on it, the screen in front of me starts to glitch. The screen shows 'AN UNKNOWN VARIABLE HAS BREACHED THE SYSTEM' in capitalized, red letters. An occurrence that has never happened before in my years of traveling. Panic starts to fill my chest as I try to fix the problem. Several attempts of repairing the system have passed, and it's still not fixed. It seems that anything I do won't make a difference. Instead, the alarm is blaring across the ship now. I quickly leave the room to see him just as alert as me. "Y/n, what's going on?!" He asks with a tone so worriful. "The ship has been hacked." Without speaking any further, he rushes towards the control room to check on the situation. He stops as soon as the door opens, revealing multiple screens glitching. One thing we notice is some sort of a graffiti sign on the wall, resembling a female with silver hair tied up into a ponytail with curls at the end, blowing a pink bubblegum There's a purple glasses on her head, along with a black bow. Her clothes consist of a crop top with an unbuttoned black short and black coat. Exhausting every option, nothing seems to work. It's completely under the mysterious hacker's control.
