I climb down the stairs, greeted by the smell of breakfast. Its scent somewhat reminds me of the classic bacon and eggs. I notice that he's already waiting for me by the table.
"Feeling better?" He asks with genuine concern and slightly knitted eyebrows. "Kind of," I pull out a chair across his. "But I'm fine now, thanks for worrying."
He lets out a soft sigh and takes a seat, "It's nothing. I'm glad you're feeling okay now." He then pushes the dish towards me. Surprisingly enough, it does look very similar to the bacon and eggs from Earth. "I made breakfast for you, dig in." He says with a caring smile while taking a bite himself. "Thanks, Jing Yuan.." I say, touched by his kind gesture.
It doesn't take long until both of our plates are empty. "That was really good!" I give him a compliment. A smug grin replaces his gentle expression, "Oh, why thank you. I'm glad you liked it." He bows exaggeratedly, winking at me. I roll my eyes at his antics. "Since I'm such a good person, I'll wash the dishes," I collect the plates and put them into the basin. "As a thanks from me."
"Haha, alright. Less work for me~" He says jokingly. I roll my eyes again. If this keeps on, I'm sure I'd be rich from the amount of money I get from rolling my eyes. He cleans his spear as I do the dishes. By the time I'm done, we both hear a few knocks on the door. My mouth opens to say something, but he cuts me off with a whisper. "Hide in your room. There's a hidden hatch next to the desk. I'll take care of this." His gaze is stern. Deep inside his golden eyes, there's a hint of worry. I can feel my anxiety levels rising slowly, but without saying any further, I quickly do as he says.
I scan around the floor and find a slightly odd looking tile. It doesn't take as long as I originally thought to find the hidden hatch, luckily. I lift up one of the wooden tiles and jump down. The whole room's dimly lit. There's an old looking but sturdy wooden table and a chair. A few small shelves surround the side of the area. I cover back the opening and hope for the best...
Meanwhile... [Jing Yuan's POV]
I ready my spear by the side of the door where the 'guests' can't see. Before opening the door, I glance behind to make sure she's already upstairs.
Clack.
Light spills through the opening, also revealing a shadow. My stern expression changes into a more friendly one. "I apologize for keeping you waiting. Is there anything that I can help with?"
It reveals the bulky, metallic body belonging to one of the soldiers from the other day. 'As expected...' I think to myself.
A robotic voice comes from it, "Do you have any leads of her whereabouts?" It then turns on a hologram of... Y/N. I take my time analyzing the image, seemingly not knowing her. "No, I've never even seen her before." I say while shaking my head slightly.
"I advise you to tell the truth." It says while its arm transforms into a weapon similar to a long blade. "I am telling the truth." I remain unfazed, my false facade not faltering one bit. My gaze hardens at the sight of it.
Wordlessly, the soldier goes inside. I hide my spear in time. It keeps on looking around, and then it continues its way upstairs with me following behind. We arrive at her room, I silently hope that she's hiding well. It opens the door and steps in. I calm down a bit when seeing everything in its original state, as if it has never been tampered with. The soldier looks around carefully but doesn't notice anything amiss. A big relief. After scanning each room and corners, it climbs down the stairs and goes outside. "Your cooperation is appreciated." I then witness it walking away. I immediately close the door and go back upstairs to check up on her.
[End of Jing Yuan's POV, back to Y/N's]
I don't dare to make a sound, fearing what would happen if I do. The eerie silence suddenly breaks at the sound of somebody's footsteps. Almost immediately, I hear a deep voice. "Y/N? You can come out now."
