I knocked on the door to Magane's room again. Ryuuen and I had been standing in front of her door for the past fifteen minutes waiting for her to open and still nothing. We had tried calling her, but her phone seemed to be turned off. So, we could only knock until she opened.
After the end of the event selection exam, Ryuuen and I considered it a good idea to have a conversation with her about what happened. Not so much about the 4-3 victory we got or the fact that we would be Class B starting next month, but that specific event.
In all honesty, I should have known better. I should have paid more attention to what Magane was up to. She couldn't have influenced the exam like that even if she had talked with the Acting Director on her own, but there was a way for her to do it: Karma.
After asking a bit, it was quite easy to learn how the exam between Karma and Kiyotaka's class went. Right now, I could only be thankful with Ryuuen for acting the way he did with Sakayanagi and with Nao for not falling in Magane's games. After Ryuuen told me about what the escape game was really about, I wasn't surprised and associating Magane to the event that happened in her middle school was easy.
In the past year, I had come up with lots of theories explaining why Magane was the way she was and what her past was like. Now, it was no wonder she and Karma got along so perfectly... Only, Magane didn't have the White Room.
Ryuuen pushed me aside and began to knock on the door more aggressively with actual punches.
This time, it didn't take long for Magane to open. Her hair was wet, and a towel covered her body.
"Yeah, yeah," she said. "I know you want to see me, now come on in."
As I headed over to the living room and Magane went back to her bathroom to change, Ryuuen opened the fridge and grabbed a soda.
Eventually, Magane finished changing into her pyjamas which was just a short and loose shirt and joined us.
"So?" she was the first to ask.
"So? You idiot, do you even realise what kind of game are you playing?!" Ryuuen snapped at her.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, Kakeru-kun," Magane said. "Maybe you could be more specific."
"That escape game, you dimwit! You think I didn't notice? You psycho."
"Does that mean, Arisu-chan wasn't playing with you and you actually knew the answer?" Magane raised an eyebrow. "Because if that's the case, we may have lost the event because of you."
"It doesn't matter if I got the answer before Class A or not. The matter here is what you revealed, the school might take measure—"
"The school won't do anything," I intervened cuttingly. "They'll let it slide as just an escape game."
"So, you're telling me all those teachers and staff are just gonna forget this idiot admitted to committing murder?" Ryuuen questioned.
"Yes," I said simply.
"Wel, that's bullshit—"
"And you don't know the half of it, Ryuuen. You were smart enough to see the school's involvement in rigging the events so use that brain for something other than insulting."
"Yeah and what's the school's interest in not denouncing this idiot," he pointed at Magane.
"It will tarnish the school's reputation," I went with the simple version since I didn't want to explain or reveal much. Then, I turned towards Magane who was just smirking, watching me and Ryuuen bickering. "It's over now, Magane."
