Y/n happily ran over to where Morax was sitting, accidentally crashing straight onto him and knocking him off the chair along with the cup of Osmanthus wine.He took 2 seconds to process what the heck just happened and realised that the entire drink had been completely spilled onto the surrounding floor.Then proceeded to glare back up at the h/c-haired kitsune.

"...oops?"

Y/n chuckled nervously as the geo archon glared back up at her."sorry, got a bit excited there. I'm going to Mondstadt, so i decided to drop by and see my friends here!This is cloud retainer's mountain, yes?"

"Umm...yeah, i guess."Morax sighed as he stood back up completely drenched in osmanthus wine, fixing his hair in the process as it had gotten soaked in wine.Work of a certain energetic, extremely fast and chaotic immortal named y/n.

After they cleaned up all the spilled wine, y/n enthusiastically turned back to Morax, ears perked up."well, nice seeing ya!But i gotta go visit the others too.I wonder if Xiao still eats snow, it gets me so concerned for him...what do you think Morax?"

"He still does.And by the way, please call me zhongli as that is my alias in this mortal vessel." "That is quite a random name..?but ok!"said y/n as the geo archon(or geo vision user who is totally a mortal)looked at her with an annoyed expression.

"Anyhow, where's Guizhong?i really wanna go visit her!"

Hearing that, Zhongli's face instantly morphed into that of sympathy, concern, and sadness.After starting about 5 different sentences, he finally said"well...uhh...she's...I'm sorry, y/n..."

Hearing that, y/n's face instantly dropped."wait, you're not saying that she's..."She whispered as tears threatened to spill from her e/c eyes, hands immediately flying to cover her mouth.The look on his face said everything.it was true...

"She's actually dead...oh, Guizhong..."

Flashback time:before the archon war

Y/n POV

"Yae y/n, get back here immediately!"I laughed as an angry Guizhong stormed behind me.Okayyyyy so basically, i teased her about her crush on Morax and she started chasing me around as i laughed evilly.There was no way she could catch up to me, since i could transform into a kitsune.

"Calm down, it was just a joke Guizhong!"I smirked as she gave me a fake angry expression.She sighed as we both fell over laughing.

Timeskip

"Guizhong...what are your goals in life?"  "Oh?why do you ask that, y/n?"

I looked at the sky wistfully as she placed a crown of glaze lilies onto my h/c hair."i just believe that everyone has a desire for something.Even if it costs everything."Guizhong looked up at me momentarily before returning focus back to another flower crown she was making for Miko.

"I want to help my people grow and become even more alongside Morax and you!how about you, y/n?"she asked calmly while smiling at me."well...can  tell you a secret?"she looked back up at me in interest, studying my face."I'm listening."

"I have more than one goal...The first, fairly obvious, i want to protect my home and my little sister. I want Miko to have everything she deserves and hope she grows up to be a great woman...She is basically all i have except for you,Makoto and Ei.the other archons too."

"But...there is also someone i deeply care for alongside miko.I slowly developed feelings for that woman over the many centuries alongside her.I love her, I really do.But I'm too scared to tell her that.you know who I'm talking about?"

"It's Ei, isn't it..?"

I sighed sadly as i carefully twirled a glaze lily in my hand.I couldn't believe my older-sister figure had really left me.Sure i didn't see her after the war, but i just assumed she managed to get away safely...

Oh, Guizhong.You will always be remembered...

I noticed Zhongli standing next to me sadly.Of course he was affected by her death too, i was basically their wingman trying to get them together.Guizhong told me her feelings, and so did zhongli.He deeply cared for her and i understood his grief...

But fate works in different ways doesn't it?It can be unpredictable, but is also inevitable at the same time.Why must fate be so cruel..?

But it wasn't time to linger here for a long time, i needed to visit everyone else before heading to Mondstadt.I would have stayed in LIyue to comfort Morax, but the mortals here were just a bit too much for me.

Life is so simple, but so complicated at the same time.i could just go back to Inazumaa to avoid all this, and hopefully get back to Ei..

No. I had to stay firm on my decision.

Sighing, i grabbed my bag and said goodbye to Morax.Next stop, Xiao.

"Oh, xiao....where is my favorite little adeptus?"

It had definitely been a while since i met xiao, it was only after the archon war had i met him in one of my trips to Liyue, and we quickly became friends after that.not exactly quick, but it somehow worked out.

I felt a strange presence behind me and turned to see a strange man with green hair and amber-colored eyes.I whacked him with my bag out of surprise.

"WHO ARE YOU?!WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY SMALL CHILD?!?!"

I was about to hit him again until he caught my arm with ease before i could stab him with a paper clip.

"Ummm...It's me, xiao.I grew a lot taller but you should be able to recognize me, auntie y/n..."

Oops-

"XIAO! YOU SCARED ME FOR A SECOND THERE!"i pouted angrily as he now stood taller than me which was so annoying for some reason.

I sighed in dismay as we struck up a casual conversation about death, hilichurls, demons and eating human food.It was actually nice talking to him after the massive fight with Ei, feeling like i had someone to vent everything to.

Our conversation went on for so long i forgot the time, and i realised it was already dusk.

Welp, i ended up renting a room so i could just stay there for now.I sighed, looking up at the ceiling and thinking sadly about what had happened in the past few years.Did i really deserve all this?

Guizhong's death was sure as hell not justified.She was the sweetest friend or sister figure anyone could ever need, and had always been there for me in sad times.

I found myself sobbing quietly in my bed.It was embarrassing, especially knowing xiao was probably on the balcony above me and had probably heard every single thing that i was crying to myself about.Hopefully he wouldn't question it.

I would have to wake up tomorrow and begin a grueling journey walking to Mondstadt.Why did everything have to be like this?

Why is fate so cruel..?
