Yae Y/n, fatui harbinger. What could go wrong?

1st POV

Why the fuck do you have a giant robot?"

I blankly stared at Scaramouche as he showed me the design. Yes. I, y/n, 5th of the eleven fatui harbingers, was nervous for the first time in a while. Images of him laughing like an idiot while tearing apart buildings with a giant ass machine filled my head as i stared. Scaramouche's shit-eating grin slowly faltered at my reaction."what? Is there a problem with it?" I simply forced a smile."no, nothing. It looks cool."

"You're the problem..." i mentally sighed in my head. "Right, back to my original question. Why the fuck do you have a giant robot?" He simply flashed me an enigmatic smile. "Top secret business. But remember the gnosis?" I immediately tensed. Everything reminded me of her. Even a simple mention of a gnosis. Scaramouche barely waited for an answer before he kept yapping. "That's the thing powering my robot. It'll make me super powerful, like a god!"

I didn't really think that being a god would do much, recalling the one time i nearly split Ei's throat apart with just my dagger.
"And plus, just trust me.Jeez! You're acting like I'm about to run off with the gnosis and abandon the Fatui for no apparent reason that ends up being some dramatic lore!"We both snickered at that.

But still, remind me why i was put with this dumbass and the psychopath for a mission.

2 weeks ago
Zapolyarny Palace, Snezhnaya

"Scaramouche. Dottore. And y/n. You three will be responsible for collecting the Dendro gnosis." The Tsaritsa's voice resonated throughout the meeting room. I lowered my head in slight acknowledgment, seeing the other two do the same. It was my first big mission. And anyways, I'd been curious to hear about Nahida. The first time I'd met the girl, she was so innocent and childlike. For some reason, all contact with her was suddenly cut off so i hadn't seen her for a long time.

The only thing i was upset about? The people."if i may ask, why these two?" The tsaritsa's expression remained unchanged. "There are.. intricate plans laid out for both the balladeer and the doctor. Your job is essentially to supervise their progress and find information about the gnosis." Oh, great! I was a free babysitter. Wow.

Dottore seemed epescially annoyed by her phrasing, because he started angrily yapping. I could feel a migraine coming on just listening to his voice."hey, hold on! I don't need this stupid FURRY to babysit me. She'll interfere with my research!!"

I whipped my head around to glare at the 2nd harbinger."what did you just say?" I said quietly as he sneered back."it's true, you're just a dirty fox who got kicked out by your ex. Someone should call animal control-" dottore never got the chance to finish, because in the few seconds he paused to breathe i had pounced onto him from across the table and started attacking with my catalyst.

I fixed the doctor with a cold smile as i pressed the cool steel of my dagger onto his neck.
"If you so much think of anything like that in the same room as me, i will slowly rip out all seven of your cervical vertebrae one by one."

3rd POV

Safe to say, that wasn't a great 2nd harbinger meeting. The little threat quickly escalated into a fight until Pierro broke it up. Dottore ended up with hypothermia and severe frostbite. He also started constantly avoiding y/n like the plague. Not that she minded, it made life here more peaceful.

In fact, it was so peaceful that one night y/n decided to take a walk around a nearby lake. Stars glittered softly under the cover of night, as a few clouds were streaked across the blackened sky. They hung so low, seeming to touch the tall and snowy mountaintops where the sky met the land. It reminded y/n of her nights spent on her very first time traveling away from Inazuma. How she sat on a tree stargazing as the galaxy revealed its wonders after dark, going where the wind took her until she arrived in Mondstadt.

But this time, there was no comfort of knowing that she had a set destination. No wise friend to bull her back from the brink if she went too far...no sense of home. There was only...loneliness. She only had Kunikuzushi and even then, he was starting to feel more and more like a rebellious and bratty sibling.

"I don't know what to do! Ei is just impossible to deal with. But something always has me wanting to return. But... i don't want to leave Mondstadt. I don't want to leave you, and everyone else."

The Anemo archon gave her a sad smile. "Not even i can help you with that, y/n. It's up to you to choose the best solution." Those words barely brought her any comfort, but she remained silent."If you leave or stay, i don't blame you." Y/n turned away in shame as she gazed at the softly glowing lights of Mondstadt. "But how will i know, Venti? What if i make the wrong choice?"

"You don't have to. And, if everything does go wrong....Just know that there will always be a place for you in Mondstadt."

And just for that night, the two close friends sat together on the walls of the city, drinking alcohol as they gazed at the stars.

A snowflake silently drifted down to where y/n was sitting, bringing her back to the present. The kitsune caught it and as quickly as it appeared, it had melted away like it was never there.

As the moonlight illuminated the icy fields, y/n couldn't help but sigh.

"Venti...did i make the right decision?"

Hi

Yesss i am alive! So yeah i randomly thought "oh yeah i should probably continue my book" and came back again. Sorry for long break don't really have an excuse unless you consider forgetting this book existed to be an excuse.

Anywayyyyyy I'm still doing the chasm quest so Sumeru arc might be a bit inaccurate :( until i finish the actual quest. Also sorry short chapter again i still suck at making long chapters...
No hate to dottore i just feel like he's the most valid option to start dissing y/n!
