Tiredness settled in once I hit the car. I could feel my eye lids dropping as I sunk down- back hitting the bottom of the seat. The bright screen from my phone bounced off my eyes as I kept glancing over to my siblings; Tey on the right and Kiri on the left. Tuk had chosen to ride home with Ommi so it was just the four of us. Trying to decide who could ride shotgun always ended in fights- so now no one got to.
" ahila habibi akhi (Hey, baby bro)." Tey slightly nudged my side, peeking a questioned look towards me. I turned my phone off and pulled my body to meet his.
Even though she didn't mean to Kiri also looked towards are brother waiting for him to continue.
Tey's gaze shifted towards dad, I couldn't pin point what he was trying to convey. Though Kiri started to quickly type- understanding exactly what he meant. My phone began to flash with an alert:
Siblings🤌:
Kiri- "what's up Tey ?"
Tey- "How did brunch go ?"
I honestly couldn't answer if I tried. I couldn't come up with even a basic response. I kept waiting for Kiri to type something- but no. She just stared off into space.
Tey- "Yeah, same."
We all exchanged looks before returning to our previous positions. I always felt safe with my family- never judged or hurt. I started to notice this same feeling appearing with Tsireya. Though, it's not really the same. With her I feel confident, but always at a lost for words.
Later on in the day I started to get ready for bed. Pulling myself away from the gaming console, I grabbed a towel and headed towards the bathroom. I turned the nozzle to hot, sliding the dirty cloths down my body and hopping in. A gasp escaped as the cold water hit my skin. The shocking sensation made me stay still- unable to move. The sides of body started to curl inwards- arms and legs pressing together. I just stood there for several minutes before the water adjusted to warm. I began to clean out my braids, using a deep cleansing shampoo. Massaging the foamy solution into my tender scalp, I couldn't help but have my jaw hanging low. The tension from my hair was slowly being removed. What a fucking relief. I love my hair style, I truly do, but it's PAINFUL.
Once the shampoo was out I turned the shower off. Steam filled the bathroom, leaving my eyes in a slight haze. I dabbed my body off before tying the towel around my waist. Carefully, I stepped out of the shower and opened the door. A cold, dry air hit my pores- this I didn't mind. After burning my skin off this felt... balanced. Well, no not really 'balanced' just- right ? It just felt right.
Waltzing into my room I spotted a light flashing- I started getting excited by the thought of someone calling me. Racing over I saw that it was Tsireya. A small smirk started to grow as I picked up her call.
Lo'ak- 'Hey Reya ! What's up ?" I made sure to give her a small wave, setting her image down on the desk.
Tsireya- "Hey Lo'ak ! Why are you naked ?"
I looked down to see I was still only wearing a towel- my 'ghubaa (dumb ass)' forgot the change of cloths in the bathroom.
Lo'ak- "Oh, I just got out of the shower- give me a sec."
I quickly flipped my phone around, trying not to make her uncomfortable. Throwing on some random sweats and a tee I returned to our conversation.
Lo'ak- "Okay, all good now."
Tsireya- "Oh you look good !" I started to grin as a rosy blush filled her cheeks.
Lo'ak- "Thx." I tried my best to act nonchalant- but on the inside my stomic was doing somersaults.
Tsireya- "Well, I wanted to invite you and your siblings to the beach tomorrow. Ao has this whole surf thing so I figured we could all go and kinda make a day of it !"
Lo'ak- "I'll have to ask Tey and Kiri, but if there down then sure ! That sounds like fun."
Tsireya- " Great ! Also... brunch was a little awkward..."
Lo'ak- "Yeah, I know. My siblings wouldn't really talk about it. I think somethin happened with them but won't say. I'm sure they'll talk about it to each other." The elevating mood I had created for myself was vanishing as I spoke.
Tsireya- "Oh Lo'ak, I bet that's really hard on you. I see how close you all are."
Tsireya- "But, something did happen. Kiri and Rotxo got into a- well I don't know what to call it, um... a fight I guess. And I was talkin with Aonung and I guess Tey was making him feel weird."
Lo'ak- "Hu."
Tsireya- "Yeah, but I really called to talk to you. Get to know you better !" My eyes widened when hearing this.
Lo'ak- "Really ?"
Tsireya- "Yes really !"
The rest of my night had flown by while talking with Tsireya. I learned her favorite t.v show was the office, loves stingrays and puffer fishes, terrified of elevators, and so much more. Before I knew it the sun was already beaming on my eyes. The sting pain awoke me, immediately panic started to settle in- did I really fall alseep while Tsireya was talking ? I rapidly moved my arms searching for the phone, I finally found it. Though, as soon as I saw Tsireya sleeping on the other end my heart rate slowed. She looked adorable- hair everywhere, drool dripping onto her pillow, body fully relaxed as her arms were pulled close to her. I didn't realize how long I was admiring her till Aonung started shouting. His voice was slowly getting louder so I hung up before he found me. Why would I hang up ? It's not like I was doing anything wrong... right ?
