GRACIE WAS WAITING for transfiguration to start when evan sat next to her.
though they were friends, evan and barty usually sat with regulus or other slytherins and the other rosier twin—pandora—sat with her.
"what are you doing?" gracie eyed him suspiciously.
"pandora's decided to ditch transfiguration today, so you get to sit with me," he grinned, "and i know i am your favourite rosier so you're actually very happy about that fact."
"she's smoking with remus?"
"probably," he shrugged.
"i wouldn't doubt it," she turned back to her work, double checking all of her answers.
"i still think it's weird that guy smokes," evan spoke again.
she didn't even look up from her paper, "he's very anxious, it helps with it."
"i mean you're anxious and you don't smoke," he countered.
"well i have more on the line. too much to lose if i become addicted or slack off."
"you can't become addicted to weed, gracie. plus, being second in our class isn't a big deal."
she whipped her whole body towards him, wand on his neck, "i knew it! he sent you over here to try and mess with me! well you tell you're friend he can go suck my dick if he thinks i'd ever willingly let him be first!"
"miss patel," a stern voice made gracie freeze, "why do you have your wand pointed at mister rosier?"
"professor mcgonagall," she sheepishly lowered her wand, "evan and i were just messing around. weren't we, evan?"
"of course, professor!" he nodded quickly.
mcgonagall looked less than impressed, "make sure it doesn't happen again."

"i only got a ninety-eight on this last test," gracie complained to evan.
"shut the fuck up, gracie. i got a sixty-seven and i'm very proud of that," evan shoved his paper in her face. "plus, no one likes those annoying bitches who complain about passing a test."
"you spelled your name wrong, evan." she drawled.
"did i? oh well," he shrugged.
"patel!" that annoying voice called.
"yes, black?" she turned and was met with the smug face of regulus black a few rows behind her and their friend.
"i heard you got a ninety-eight on the test."
"i guess you can add eavesdropper to your applications," she sniffed.
regulus didn't say anything back, only raised his test up allowing gracie to see the ninety-nine written in the same red ink her ninety-eight was.
"thank you for showing me your wonderful test, number two," she grinned and walked out of the classroom.
regulus' eye twitched, and barty gave him a nervous smile, "if you keep getting better grades than her this year, you'll be on top again."
"thank you for explaining the obvious to me, barty. i really needed to hear that," he sneered and left.
evan and barty shared a look, "well today will be fun."
