IT HAD TAKEN a lot longer to clean the floor than gracie and regulus thought it would.

"the match is probably halfway over now," gracie grumbled as she scrubbed the floor, "honestly this is ridiculous."

"why would you want to see your team lose anyway?" regulus grunted. "we all know that gryffindor is going to win, and we'll play them in the final?"

"must you be so depressing, black?" gracie sat back on her heals, "i would like to enjoy school."

regulus put the rag back into the bucket, "i'm simply saying that there isn't a point wasting your energy on a lost cause."

gracie thought he was joking at first but, upon further inspection, realised he was completely sirius. "you actually believe there's no point, don't you?"

"why would i say it if i didn't believe it?"

"well, regulus, i want to watch the match because i will have fun with my friends. and even when ravenclaw loses, i'll still get to watch my friends in gryffindor play and spend time with the others at the match," she smiled as she spoke. "to me, not everything is black or white, there's no one specific reason for everything."

the boy regarded her for a moment. the way her eyes seemed to glimmer when she spoke of her friends. "that's an interesting way to put it. however, i think i'll stick to my way of looking at it." he went back to scrubbing.

"i tried."

"he's not even letting them use magic!" pandora burst into the room, the rest of their friends following. "you missed the whole match!!

"we are aware," regulus drawled, "but ravenclaw won, so what's there to care about?"

"you are such a bore, little brother," sirius sat on a stool, "are you ever going to relax and have fun?"

"he's actually quite relaxed if you can get him to smoke," even spoke up.

"oh my gods!" pandora clapped her hands like a child, "he was hugging this pillow on the common room couch."

"would not stop talking about flowers of all things," barty snorted. "bruv was proper waved."

"waved?" peter furrowed his brows.

"zooted, mashed, on a mad one, baked, on cloud nine, blazed out of his mind." barty listed off.

"waved," peter quietly repeated.

"ignore him," gracie stood and brushed her knees, "he got a roadman slang book as a joke, and he's taken it seriously."

"bruv, why are messing with my energy?"

"see what i mean?"
