Four rookies sat in the two front desks. The left side had Nolan and West with the right side having Chen and Anderson sitting together. No matter what none of them were ever left alone.
"All right, all right. Settle down. Settle down." Sergeant Grey spoke getting the attention of the room full of officers.
"So, okay, we got some new blood this morning. And some pushing the expiration date." Sergeant Grey looked at Nolan as his last remark was about him.
Laughter erupted behind the rookies but Nolan didn't take it to heart because he knew that he was going to be a great officer.
"Get up." Sergeant Grey looked behind both table that the rookies were sitting at.
"After six months together in the Academy, you've earned the right to be here. But you'll have to prove yourself to stay. The way we do things matters. Protocol and tradition are the metal from which every cop in this city is forged. Understand?"
"Yes, sir." The rookies all responded in synchronization.
"Sit down. It's time to play the Training Officer match game. Our contestants are: Lucy Chen, a hotshot who made her first arrest before clocking in for work. Legacy Jackson West, who broke all his dad's records at the Academy. Olivia Anderson, daughter of captain Anderson-"
Officer Bradford eyes widen slightly at realizing who the rookie that ran into him not long ago was.
"and in the running to beat West. And John Nolan, who was born before disco died." Sergeant Grey finished introducing all the new rookies.
"And the winners are: Officer Bradford, you get our hotshot. Officer Lopez, you get our legacy. Officer Smith, you get the captains daughter. Leaving Officer Bishop to ride with the 40-year-old rookie. Now, hear me. Today is your first day. Don't let it be your last. Forget the Academy and listen to your T.O.s. They'll teach you the way it should be done. That's it. All right. Be safe out there. Officer Bishop, I need a word with your rook." Sergeant Grey nodded his head and the room breaks up and gets ready for their shift today.

"Officer Smith!" Olivia was practically chasing him out of the room since he decided to leave before even meeting the girl.
Officer Smith let out an agitated sigh before turning around and facing his boot. "Listen here boot."
What is with the male training officers? Olivia gets being tuff but starting straight with an annoyed attitude wasn't what she wanted.
"I was praying that I wouldn't have to babysit the captains daughter, but luck obviously wasn't on my side." Officer Smith told the girl.
"Sir with all do respect."
No respect, Olivia thought to herself as she spoke.
"I'm my own person and I'm a grown adult who needs no babysitter. I'm here to do a job of protecting and serving people who need it. If you don't want to train me because you're scared, I'll request a new t.o." Olivia held her head high and spoke with confidence knowing that she had to get it through his thick head that she isn't a child that he needs to worry about.
Officer Smith scoffed. He liked how the girl had fire, reminding him of the captain.
"You get one shot. Now go get our equipment and meet me at our shop." Officer Smith gave the brunette girl one last look before leaving her.
Olivia grinned. She loved when she gets a chance to show an asshole his place.
"You didn't tell me you were Anderson's kid."
And know her grin is gone.
Olivia turned around to see another annoying training officer.
"You didn't ask." Olivia shrugged her shoulders and began walking to the desk where you check out all the equipment.
Officer Bradford looked concerned for a brief second, Olivia almost missed it. Almost.
"Relax I haven't talked to my mom in months, I don't think I'm gonna start out by telling her about an asshole training officer." Olivia chuckled slightly, but soon realized who she was talking to making any sight of amusement disappear. "Sir."
Officer Bradford rolled his eyes before leaving the rookie alone to get her equipment.
