The don of the Russian mafia. Because of course he is. God forbid we get good news for once.
This new information did allow us to start zeroing down on their location, which is great. I mean, of course Russia was a big country, but it was a start. I sit in a chair in Maddox's office and watch them all work. Anytime I try to do something to actually be of use, Maddox shuts me down. Says he doesn't want me lifting a finger. I get it, but I also wanted to help my family.
Carlos's computer pings and he starts speaking rapid Spanish. I still understand none of it but Maddox and Sylas clearly know what's going on. Sometimes I forget they're all multilingual. It messes with my head. Maddox keeps asking 'where are you?' over and over again, and Sylas is typing fiercely at his computer. Honestly, I don't know how all of their keyboards are still in tact.
A phone call comes through and Matteo grabs it and doesn't even wait for the other person. He's just already talking and barking out orders. It's weird seeing all three of them in their "don mode" at once. If I wasn't me, I'd probably be terrified of them. I mean I kind of am terrified of them but that's not the point.
I watch as the office descends into more chaos than it was already in. Sylas's typing got at least three times faster and Maddox and Carlos were pacing behind him. I guess he was working on whatever they were waiting for. Matteo hangs up the phone only to start another call almost immediately.
"A little faster Sy," Maddox says.
Sylas turned and glared at him. He was clearly working as fast as he could.
"Right. Sorry."
Sylas turns back towards his computer and seems to do one last thing. Him, Maddox, and Carlos all stare at the screen waiting for something to happen. On the other side of the room Matteo is still on the phone, but he's much quieter now. I start to wonder if maybe he's talking to Mia or Mason but then I remember that I should focus on the bigger issue.
Sy's computer pings and all three of them lean in.
"We got it," Maddox whispers.
Sylas's eyes are wide and Mad's mouth is partially hanging open.
Wait.
"You found them?" I ask, my brain finally catching up.
Sylas slowly turns the computer towards me. The screen has a little red dot in the middle of what I assume is a map of Russia.
Holy fucking shit.
I practically launch myself into Sylas's lap and give him a bone crushing hug.
He found our family.
I feel a set of arms wrap round both of us. I don't have to check to know that it's Maddox. I think I might be crying but it's hard to tell. All I could think about is the fact that we finally knew where our brothers were. Maddox pulls away but I can't bring myself to let go yet. I drop my head onto Sy's shoulder as the three dons start assembling their mafias. I can only assume there's going to be quite the raid soon.
I had never really seen any of the mafia stuff in action. It was still hard to believe that it was real at all. It was hard to believe that my brothers were capable of any of this stuff. However, I'd seen Maddox working a lot more these past few months. He could be really scary when he wanted to.
I hear him ask the other two if they'll be ready in forty eight hours and they both nod at him. They then leave the office, probably to get more things done. I'm not sure how a triple army attack works, but it's clear that it takes a lot of planning.
I get up to go pack some things when Maddox's voice stops me.
"Grace, will you be okay to stay with one of the girls while we're away?" he asks without looking up from his phone.
