Twilight wolves

     I used to always think that my life was normal. I never thought that there were different creatures out there in the world. Of course I have heard stories but that all I thought they were. I thought they were all just something that was made up to scare people to keep them out of the woods or to make children behave. Then one day changed everything that I thought I knew. It all started when I went with her. Nothing is ever going to be the same now that I know.
     Living in Forks can get kind of boring. The only thing you can really do is go to school or go to the beach. Most times I go down to the reservation and help the elders. I have heard the legends a few times. Well pieces of the legends. Old Quil is one of my favorites to help. His grandson is a major flirt but he is easily handled when he realises that his flirtations aren't working. It took him about two weeks to understand that I wasn't interested. I typically try to avoid my house. As much as I love my father it is boring to hear him and Charlie all the time. My father is the fire chief for Forks. My father and Charlie are always talking about something work related so I let them have their space. Recently I have been helping Charlie with Bella. She was hanging out with Jacob and doing better but for some reason they aren't hanging out anymore. I have tried to get Bella to talk about it with me but she hasn't yet. I know not to even ask about Edward. I know that as much as she may want to talk about him it would hurt her to much. I saw the pain on her face when they found her. I have never seen someone so heart broken in my entire life.
     I walked into the swan residence. I know that if I knocked Bella would just ignore it and Charlie is at work. I told him I was coming over today so he left the door unlocked for me. I'm going to try to get Bella down to the beach. It would be good for her to get out of the house and get some air. I heard a noise on the stairs and I looked over to see Bella walking down the steps. She looks over at me and stops.
"What are you doing here Lyn?" She asked.
"I was coming to see if you wanted to go to the beach with me. You know go out and get some air." I said.
"I was actually going to go to Jacob's house." She said.
"Oh. I didn't know you guys were talking again. That's great." I said.
"We aren't but I want to find out what happened." She said.
"Ok. Well let me know how it goes. You can come over to my house afterwards if you need to." I said.
"Actually would you like to go with me?" She askked. "Be like moral support."
"Of course I can do that." I said.
She nodded and continued walking down the stairs. I know finding out about Jacob is going to help her a little bit. Hopefully she will get out of her bad moods that she has been in recently. I know Charlie just wants her to be happy again like she was before. I followed Bella out to her truck and hopped into the passenger seat.
"How do you know Jacob isn't still sick?" I asked.
"He came over last night but he had to leave before he could tell me anything." She said. "He looks different now."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"His hair is a lot shorter now." She said.
"Jacob loves his hair though why would he cut it short." I said.
"That's what I want to find out." She said.
She started driving toward the reservation. I have been this way so many times in my life but I have never been this nervous to go. I don't know why but I just have a feeling something bad is going to happen while we are there.
     We pulled up to Jacob's house. I let her get out and do her thing. I hopped out and walked to the front of the truck. I have always loved being at the reservation. It's always so peaceful here. I saw some guys walking out of the tree line. They were all shirtless and wearing cut off shorts. I closed my eyes to try to enjoy the peacefulness while it still lasted. I heard a commotion coming form the house and I looked that way. I saw Bella coming out of the house and heading toward the guys that were walking away from the trees.
"Bella what are you doing?' I asked.
I started following after her. I know that's probably not the smartest thing to do but I know that if something happened to her then I would blame myself for not being able to help. I watched the four guys that Bella was alking to. There is no way I am going to be of any help to her with those guys. They all look like they could pick us both up and throw us. Bella was standing closer to them then I was. I could see everything but I couldn't hear what they were saying. I looked at the guys a little closer. The only one I know is Embry. I only know him because of Quil.  He was on the end closest to Bella. I can only guess that the guy in front of her is Sam. She told me that Jacob had a problem with Sam before he stopped talking to her. Then there was the guy next to Sam and a guy next to him. The guy on the end is the one who caught my attention the most. He looked similar to the other guys but there was just something about him that I couldn't look away. He was wearing light brown shorts.  There is just something about his eyes that make me feel like its safer to walk closer to them. I took a step forward when I heard the slap. I looked away from the mystery guy and saw Bella had just slapped the one next to him. I could see that his body was shaking.
"Paul calm down." Sam said.
"Too late now." Mystery guy said.
I watched as Paul's body turned into one of a wolf. I screamed and all their eyes turned to me. Paul took a step forward and I walked backwards a few steps. Bella started running toward the house but I just watched the wolf that is Paul.
"Jacob don't." Mystery guy yelled.
I was confused but screamed as a wolf landed in front of me. I could hear the fear in my voice as I screamed. I know mystery guy could as well  because he was watching me really closely. I can only assume the wolf in front of me is Jacob. I don't know how all of this is possible but it is. I watched Jacob and Paul smash a boat before going into the trees. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the wreckage they caused.
"Take the girls back to Emily's." Sam said.
I watched the two boys come over to me. I saw Bella start walking back to me out of the corner of my eye.
"Lyn you alright?" Embry asked.
I looked over at him and shook my head. The mystery guy was still watching me closely.
"Are you hurt anywhere?" Embry asked.
"I feel like I'm going to be sick." I said.
"Jared maybe you should help her get back to the truck." Embry said.
I looked over at mystery guy. I'm glad to finally know his name. I went to take a few steps but I swayed to the side. I felt two hot hands on me through the fabric of my shirt. I looked and locked eyes with Jared. I could see black spots all around my vision. I watched Jared's face as the look of concern got worse.
"Lynlee!" Bella yelled.
I wanted to look to her but I just felt myself falling. I felt arms go around me before everything turned black.
     I opened my eyes and looked around. I could hear laughing but I didn't see anyone around me. I sat up and realised I didn't know where I was. I got up and started walking toward all the laughing.
"I can't believe Jared's imprint passed out." Someone said.
"Shut up Paul." Someone else said.
"Come on Jared. You have to admit it's kind of funny." Embry said.
I heard a growl as I walked into the room. It was a little dining room area. The boys were all sitting around a table. I saw Sam standing off to the side with a girl next to him. She was beautiful even with the scars on her face. I can imagine how she got those now that I know about the boys.
"Lynlee are you alright? How are you feeling?" The girl asked. "I'm Emily."
"Better. I think." I said.
I looked over at the boys. Jared and Embry were both watching me.
"You scared us Lyn." Embry said.
"Sorry Em." I said.
"How's Quil? Do you know?" He asked.
I heard another growl. I can guess that it was coming from Jared.
"He's alright.  A little confused but Old Quil has been taking care of him." I said. "I guess I know why he has been watching him a little closer now."
Embry nodded. I know he misses his friend. I don't want to make him feel bad but I would never lie to him about one of his best friends.
"Jacob walked off with Bella. They didn't say when they would come back." He said.
I nodded. I figured they would do that. They have a lot to talk about now anyway.
"I guess they have a lot to talk about now." I said.
"You can't tell anyone about today." Sam said.
I heard a growl from Jared again. I looked over at him and he seemed to calm down. I took a step closer to him as I looked over at Sam.
"Don't worry I won't. It's not like anyone would believe me anyway." I said.
"The Cullen's would." Paul said.
"They aren't even here anymore. Plus I never talked to them I sat with them because of Bella." I said.
"Did she ever tell you anything about them?" Embry asked.
"Embry don't. That's up to Jared." Sam said.
"What's up to Jared? Shouldn't it be up to me to know?" I asked.
I glanced at Jared but he didn't say anything to me. I looked back over to Embry.
"If you are asking if she told me that they are vampires then no. I found out on my own. That's why I don't talk to them." I said.
"How did you find out?" Embry asked.
"Em I have been helping Old Quil for years. I have heard pieces of the stories. It wasn't hard to guess after that. They don't eat and they don't come on the days it's really sunny." I said. "It's easy to know if you know what to look for."
"Old Quil just gave you the information to put together." Sam said. "Of course he would after Bella got involved."
"I mean not to brag but I am Old Quil's favorite helper." I said.
Embry and I both laughed.
"He's going to be so mad to know that she can't be Quil's imprint now." Embry said.
"Embry shut up." Jared said.
I looked over at him. He has a nice voice. It's deep but not to deep. It's one of those voices where you just can't help but listen to whatever he has to say.
"What's that?" I asked.
Jared looked over at me. I could see in his eyes that he doesn't really know how to explain it.
"If it's a secret then you don't have to tell me." I said. "I know the tribe has lot's of secrets."
Jared watched me closely like he was waiting for something else to happen.
"Your very understanding when it comes to our secret." Sam said.
"It's not my secret. I don't want to make things worse for you." I said. "Can someone take me home now?"
"Sure." Sam said. "Jared you can use my truck and take her."
Jared stood up and looked over at me. He nodded his head toward the door. I saw Sam throw something at him but he caught it. I guessed it was the keys. I started walking out the door and Jared followed behind me. We walked out to the truck and Jared opened the door for me to hop in. He got in the drivers seat and looked over at me.
"Are you sure your alright?" He asked.
"I'm good. I promise." I said. "You don't talk much do you?"
"I guess it's just hard for me to talk to you." He said.
"Oh." I said.
"Not in a bad way." He said. "There is just something I need to tell you and I"m not sure how you are going to take it with the reaction you had to Paul and Jacob phasing."
"I don't care that you turn into a wolf if that's what you are worried about." I said.
"Do you really want to know what an Imprint is?" He asked.
"Of course." I said.
"Imprinting is something us wolves do. It happens when we make eye contact with a special someone." He said. "To us it's kind of like love at first sight but more than that. It's like that person becomes your whole world."
"That sounds a bit controlling." I said.
"It's not that bad." He said. "It's our ancestor's picking the person they know is best for us. Most times it's someone we know we would like anyway without the imprint. The imprint just makes it more officail I guess."
"Why did Embry say that I can't be Quil's imprint?" I asked.
"I imprinted on you earlier at Jacob's house." He said.
"Oh." I said. "Is that why they were making fun of you for having an imprint that passed out?"
"Yeah. Paul likes to joke a lot but he also has a very short temper so please be extra careful around him." He said.
"I will." I said. "I try not to make people angry anyway."
"He doesn't have to be angry at you in order to hurt you. You won't be able to calm him down like you would be able to with me." He said.
"Why would I be able to calm you down?" I asked.
"It's an imprint thing." He said. "The urge to not hurt you is so strong that as long as I'm not to angry knowing that you are close by helps me to calm down."
"Did Sam do that to Emily?" I asked.
"Yeah." He said. "She denied the imprint for a while and it was causing Sam to lose his mind. Not being able to be with your imprint kind of messes with you a bit when you avoid the wolf."
"Well we wouldn't want that to happen." I said. "I want you to know that yes it was a shock and I know I passed out but I'm not bothered that you turn into a wolf. It's actually pretty cool to be honest. So don't feel bad about ever coming around or thinking that I am scared of you."
"You actually want me to come around?' He asked.
"Of course." I said. "You don't seem like a terrible person Jared."
I could see the smile on his face as we pulled up to my house. I looked around but didn't see my father's truck. I guess it's going to be another late night for him.
"When are you going to Old Quil's again?" He asked.
"Tomorrow morning." I said.
"Can I pick you up?" He asked. "I get off patrol about six so I can be here about eight if you want."
"Yeah that sounds great. Thank you Jared." I said.
I looked over at him and saw that his smile was just getting wider by the second. I know the whole imprint thing should probably freak me out but looking at him right now it doesn't. I know we have a long way to go before we figure all of this out. It's definitely going to take some time to get used to but there is no one I want to figure this out with other than Jared. The imprint might have been what started all of this but I know that is not going to be the only reason we are going to be together. I guess I can understand Bella's relationship with Edward now. If it was anything like this then I understand why she has had such a hard time since Edward left her. If Jared decided to leave me after spending that much time with me and making me think that he loves me I would probably be in a bad way too. I don't think I would ever want Jared to just up and leave me like that. It would hurt way to much if he ever did that. Looking at how happy he is right now I don't think he would ever do that to me. I gave him a big smile before hopping out of the truck.
"I'll see you in the morning Jared." I said.
"See you then Lee." He said.
"Lee?" I asked.
"Yeah. Your names Lynlee but everyone calls you Lyn. I want to be different from everyone else so I thought of Lee." He said.
"I like it." I said.
He smiled again. I don't think he's ever going to stop smiling while he's with me. I smiled a little wider before closing the door. I walked up to my porch and waved before he backed out of the driveway. I know being with Jared is going to be much different than being with anyone else. I can't help but wonder what the rest of my life is going to be like with Jared. I can't wait to experience the rest of my life with him.
