Brady Fuller

After everything I have learned in the past few weeks I never knew that I would find my soulmate at the same time. I always thought I would have more time before I found the person I was going to be with for the rest of my life. If I would have known that I would find him then I might have followed Bella a lot sooner. I always tried to tell her that going to LaPush all the time was going to end up with someone getting hurt. I have tried to tell her that ever since I found out what Jacob is. I never thought that he was a monster but I always thought he was dangerous to be around. I never knew what I was hiding away from myself.
Bella has finally convinced me to go with her to Emily's house. She said that Jacob told her there won't be anyone there but Emily. I know that Emily isn't a shifter like everyone else is. I grabbed my stuff off of my bed and walked outside to meet Bella at her truck. I walked over and threw my bag into the truck and waited for her to walk out of her house. It's actually kind of warm out today so I am wearing black short shorts, a white t-shirt, and my sandals. I leaned against the truck as Bella walked out.
"I'm surprised you agreed to come with me." She said.
"Same." I said. "I still think they are dangerous though."
"You sound just like Edward." She said.
"Did you ever think that maybe he has a reason for saying that?" I asked.
"I think it's because he knows how Jacob feels." She said.
"Everyone knows how Jacob feels about you. It's as clear as the sky is today." I said.
"Is not." She said.
"It totally is." I said.
"Let's just go." She said.
I laughed as she walked around to the driver side. We both got in and she started driving to LaPush. I know they are her friends but I can't help that I worry about what is going to happen around them.
Bella finally pulls up in front of a small house. It looks really cozy and inviting. We both hop out and Bella looks over at me.
"Don't stare at Emily. She has a scar going down the side of her face." She said.
"See dangerous." I said.
"It was an accident Raelynn." She said.
"It still happened though." I said.
She sighed and we both started to walk inside. I followed behind her. We walked up the few stairs and went into the house. I thought it was a bit rude that she didn't knock but I know Emily was expecting us and she is probably used to the boys just walking in anyway. We walked into a little dining room and saw a guy sitting at the table.
"So much for just girls." I said.
"Rae be nice." Bella said.
I shrugged my shoulders and looked around. I decided to finally look at the guy sitting at the table. He looked really cute with his hair cut short and his tribe tattoo. He was in the typical wolf outfit of cut off jeans. I looked at his eyes and noticed they were a beautiful shade of brown. They had little golden flecks but they weren't very noticeable unless you were really looking at them. I saw him kind of freeze in his seat. I wasn't sure what that meant so I looked over to Bella. She didn't seem very concerned so I just shrugged it off. I heard some hooting coming from behind us. I turned around and saw Jacob walking up with Embry and Quil. Of course those two would be with him. I don't think he can do anything without those two with him. Embry looked me up and down like he used to always do.
"Looking good like always Rae." Embry said.
I popped a hip to the side and crossed my arms over my chest. I heard a growl come from behind me. I know it had to have come from the guy sitting at the table.
"You only wish you could look this good Em." I said.
"Ha. She got you." Quil said.
Embry smacked Quil on the back of the head. I looked over to Jacob.
"I thought you said Emily was supposed to be the only one here." I said.
"I never said that." Jacob said.
"Bella told me you did." I said.
"I knew you wouldn't come otherwise." Bella said.
"Don't you love us anymore Rae?" Embry asked.
I heard another growl. Embry finally looked at the boy behind me.
"You have got to be kidding me." Embry said.
"What?" Bella and I asked.
I looked over at her. We hardly ever talk at the same time. I always find it creepy when it happens.
"Please never do that again." Quil said.
"Trust me I try not to." I said.
"What's wrong Embry?" Bella asked.
"Just another wolf having his heart stolen by a girl." Embry said.
I looked back at Bella confused but she seemed to understand what he was talking about. I glanced over at the boy at the table but he was just staring at me like he never heard Embry talk at all. I saw Emily walking out of the kitchen.
"Oh Emily save me." I said. "They are all talking in code and I have no idea what they are talking about."
"I'm sure someone will tell you soon enough." Emily said.
"Why not now?" I asked.
"We're going to the beach." Jacob said.
I bounced on my feet a little bit. I love going to the beach.
"When?" I asked.
"Now." Embry said.
I squealed and jumped onto Embry's back. He laughed at me.
"Onward my noble steed." I said.
Bella laughed as Embry started making his way out the door.
"I thought they were dangerous." Bella said.
"It's worth it for the beach." I said.
I heard everyone back in the house laughing as Embry made his way out to the yard. I hopped down from his back.
"Can I ask you something?" Embry asked.
"Sure." I said.
"Did you stop coming to hang out with us becuase we're monster's?" He asked.
"You guys aren't monster's." I said.
"Why have you been ignoring us then?" He asked.
"I know that you guys can be dangerous when you get upset." I said. "I know I can make people angry sometimes and I don't want to say the wrong thing and upset one of you. I know you guys would feel terrible if you hurt me."
"So you don't think we're monster's." He asked.
"Of course not." I said.
I nudged him with my arm. He stopped walking and he looked over at me.
"You know we would never hurt you right?" He asked.
"I know you would never do it on purpose." I said.
"Will you please start hanging out with us again?" He asked.
I looked over and saw his pleading face. I have missed all of them but I'm worried about being hurt. I saw the others catching up to us.
"We all miss you." He said.
I took in a deep breath and let it out.
"I suppose I can hang out with you again loser." I said.
"Yes!" He yelled.
I saw Jared and the new guy look over at us.
"One condition though." I said.
"Anything." Embry said.
"Tell me about the new guy that I don't know." I said.
"His name is Brady." He said.
"What else?" I asked.
"He's fairly new but he has the shift under control." He said. "I think he likes you."
"What makes you think that?" I asked.
"The growling back there is one indicator." He said.
I nodded even though I was still a little confused.
"You know we have a legend about that kind of thing." He said.
"What love at first sight?" I asked.
"Something like that." He said.
I nodded as the others reached us. I looked over to Bella and Jacob.
"What are you guys talking about?" Bella asked.
"Just my undying love for Rae here." Embry said.
I heard another growl and Embry gave me a look as if to say I told you so. I shook my head but smiled anyway.
"Can you tell me about it?" I asked.
"About what?" Bella asked.
"Embry told me they have a legend about something I'm interested in." I said.
"I think you should ask Brady about it." Embry said. "He's newer so he recently heard the legends. I'm sure he could tell you about it better than me."
"Em you have heard those legends a thousand times." I said.
"My lips are sealed. If you want to know so bad then you are going to have to ask Brady." Embry said.
I heard Jacob laugh. I looked over at him and glared.
"Come on Em you know she is never going to do that." Jacob said. "She's to scared."
"Maybe I will." I asked.
I started walking to keep up with the others. I heard Embry and Jacob chuckle behind me before I heard their foot steps following. I know Bella is back there with them enjoying the jokes that I know the boys are making. I caught up to Brady but I didn't say anything. I saw him glance over at me several times while we were walking.
We finally made it to the beach. The others started playing soccer as soon as we hit the sand. Brady stayed with me and I appreciated that he did that. I looked over to Jacob and Embry and wondered what it is they aren't telling me. I looked over to Brady and saw that he was staring at me.
"Do you want to walk with me down by the water?" I asked.
"Sure." He said.
I started walking so I was getting closer to the water. Brady was walking next to me the whole time. I finally reached the water. I took my sandals off and placed them just out of reach of the waves. I walked closer so my feet were in the water.
"Be careful." Brady said.
I saw him hesitantly reach a hand out to me. I raised an eyebrow at him.
"It's just water." I said.
"It could be cold." He said.
"It's supposed to be." I said. "I'm Raelynn by the way. I know no one has told you yet. Embry told me that you are Brady."
"Yeah." He said. "That's not what you really want to talk about though."
"No it's not." I said.
"You can ask you know." He said. "I'll tell you anything you want to know."
"Why would you do that?" I asked.
"It's a long story. " He said.
"I've got plenty of time." I said.
"It's part of the one legend." He said.
"Which one?" I asked. "I know your tribe has a whole bunch."
"It's about how the third wife became the third wife." He said.
"Can you tell me about it?" I asked.
He looked over at me and he watched me closely for a few seconds.
"Shifter's can live for a long time as long as we keep shifting so it's not uncommon if one of us has more than one wife." He said. "There will always be one that we won't ever forget. Once we find that one there will be no one else after her either."
"Why is that one different?" I asked.
"It's the one we imprint on." He said.
"What"s that?" I asked.
"Some of the guys say it's like gravity shifting." He said.
"Have you imprinted on someone?" I asked.
"Very recently yes." He said.
"What do you think it's like?" I asked.
"It's like a light feeling in your chest and a sense of belonging." He said. "It's hard to explain."
"Do you have to know the person in order to imprint?" I asked.
"No. You just have to make eye contact with them." He said.
I closed my eyes and spun around in the water. I could feel the water splashing up onto my legs a little more than before. I looked back at Brady to see him already looking at me.
"It kinda sounds like love at first sight." I said.
"Yeah a little bit. I guess that's one way to describe it." He said. "You would be anything for your imprint."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"If she only wanted to be friends, her protector, or a lover." He said.
"You said you imprinted recently." I said. "What's your imprint like?"
"I'm not to sure. I haven't really got to know her yet but the guys all say she is great." He said.
"Is it anyone I know?" I asked.
I tilted my head trying to think of who the guys know that he could have possibly imprinted on. I know Emily is with Sam so he probably imprinted on her. Bella is Edwards mate so there's no way it was her. Brady looked down at the sand and I could see a light blush on his cheeks and that's when it hit me. He was talking about me.
"I think you know my imprint the best." He said.
I smiled. I know that was his way of confiming my thoughts.
"I think your imprint loves the thought of love at first sight." I said.
He looked up at me and smiled. I gave him the biggest smile I possibly could.
"We can start out as friends and work our way up." I said.
"I thought you didn't like being around us shifter's." He said.
"I promised Embry that I would start hanging around a bit more." I said. "Plus I think I can make an exception for you."
He smiled and I could see how happy he was to hear the last part.
"Friends it is then." He said.
I held my hand out to him. He looked at me for a few moments before he took my hand. I pulled him closer so we were both standing in the water.
"Your imprint also really loves the ocean." I said. "You should bring her to the beach as often as you can."
"I will bring her any time she want's." He said.
"That's a good answer to." I said.
He laughed and started pulling me with him down the shore line. We walked along the shore line away from everyone else. I know my mother would be absolutely livid if she found out that I really liked a boy that I just met but being with Brady is different. He's not like all the other boys. I can see myself spending all of my time with him. I can see myself being with him forever. He is like my version of Edward. I might not be in love with him right now but I know from the feeling I have deep in my gut that it won't take me long to fall in love with him. He is going to be my forever. He is going to be my home even if he doesn't know it yet. Things may change later in life but I feel as if I have him by my side that I can do anything. Maybe this is how Bella feels when she is with Edward and that's why it hurt her so much when he left. I just met Brady and I can't even imagine what it would be like to ignore him for a long time. Spending more time in LaPush isn't sounding like such a terrible thing anymore. I can't wait for the day that I do fall for Brady. I know things are only going to get better from here.
