I haven't lived in LaPush for a very long time. I have met a few good people. My family moved into the house next to Emily and Sam. When I first started school I was a little worried about living next door to them but once I met them I knew the rumors at school weren't true. Sam and Emily are very nice. At first the only ones that would talk to me were the people everyone said to avoid. That was until I met Collin. He was in class all the time but I never talked to him. Then one day he came up and started talking to me. I was so happy to make a friend on my own. I remember that day perfectly.
I walked into class and sat down in my normal seat. I saw Collin walk in. I am used to him walking past me but today he sat in the seat beside me. I looked over at him and gave a look. He turned to me and he had the biggest smile.
"I'm Collin." He said.
"Juliet." I said.
"I know. It's not often someone moves here." He said.
"I had that suspicion." I said.
He chuckled. I smiled and turned away. He is very handsome. His hair is short but not very short. He has the golden tan skin that almost everyone in LaPush has. I felt him nudge my arm.
"Your friend's with Sam's cult right?" He asked.
"Not really. I just live next door to him." I said.
"How are you liking LaPush?" He asked.
"I love it. It's so quiet and Calm here." I said.
"It rains a lot though." He said.
"It does rain a lot." I said.
We both laughed. It felt nice to talk to someone who isn't with Sam. I looked away and tried to focus for when the teacher comes in.
"Do you know if there is any truth to what they say about Sam?" He asked.
"I don't know. Sam is always super nice to me when I'm at Emily's." I said.
"He can't be that bad then." He said.
"I guess not." I said.
I smiled. Everyone is so quick to say Sam is a bad guy but I don't think they ever gave an effort to know him. That's one of the things I don't like about being here. People are quick to judge without trying to understand first. If I would have known that was going to be the last conversation I had with Collin for weeks then I would have made it last a lot longer than it did. After that day it was weeks before Collin came back to school. I wondered what had happened and then one day I saw him leaving Emily and Sam's house. I had no idea the day after that would change my life forever.
It's Saturday and I'm putting cookies into a container. My brother has been hounding my mother about me making homemade peanut butter cookies. I decided to get up super early and make extra to take over to Emily. I finally have everything done. It has taken me four hours. I put on leggings, a tank top, and my bearclaw boots. I went back to the kitchen and grabbed everything that I was taking to Emily. I walked out of the house and went over to Emily's. I knocked on the door but she yelled for me to come in. I walked inside but I didn't see her.
"Emily." I called out.
"Kitchen." She said.
I laughed and started walking to the kitchen. Everytime I bring anything over she is in the kitchen. I swear it's like she just lives in the kitchen. I walked in and saw her pull a tray of muffins out of the oven. She looked over her shoulder to me.
"Hello Juliet. I see you brought more goodies." She said. "The boys loved the last batch your mom sent."
"That's great. My mom will be super happy." I said. "These are actually from me. I baked them this morning."
"If they are anything like your mother's than I'm sure they will be absolutely delicious." She said.
She gave me a smile and I laughed.
"My brother and his friends think so." I said.
"When does your brother get to come home?" She asked.
"Tomorrow morning." I said.
"You must be very excited." She said.
"I am." I said.
We both laughed and then heard hooting coming from outside. It didn't take long before the boys came in. Jared and Seth were the first two I saw. Jared stopped when he saw what I was holding.
"Are those from your mom?" He asked.
"They are from me. They are homemade peanut butter cookies." I said.
Jared smiled and reached out for them. I gave him a look and held them away from him.
"You have to share this time." I said.
He nodded so I gave them to him. Emily and I laughed at him as he ran to the other room but I followed him anyway. I saw Paul and Jacob sitting on the couch. Paul looked up and smiled at me.
"Hey Julie." Paul said.
I walked to behind the couch and bent over to hug him. Out of all of them I am closest to Paul. He reminds me so much of my brother.
"Hey Paul." I said.
"How come no one else gets a hug?" Jared asked.
"I'm special." Paul said.
I heard a deep laugh and looked to the door. Sam walked in with Collin beside him. Collin's hair is shorter and he has the same tattoo as the rest of them. He looked at me and he seemed to freeze. I gave him a smile before I looked over to Sam.
"You know Paul is her favorite." Sam said.
"He can't really be her favorite if she gave me the cookies." Jared said.
Paul looked back at me. He put his hand over his heart. I couldn't help but laugh at him.
"Peanut butter cookies from lunch?" Paul asked.
"The very same." I said.
Paul's face fell and I laughed again.
"The betrayal. It hurts." Paul said.
"Get used to it buddy." Jared said.
Paul glared at Jared causing everyone to laugh.
"I saved some for you at my house." I said.
Paul looked at me with the biggest smile then back to Jared.
"Ha. I am the favorite." Paul said.
Jared glared at him but didn't say anything.
"I swear the two of you are always arguing." Jacob said.
"Wait until Tyler get's in. It will be like having two Paul's." I said.
"No way. Keep him far from here." Jacob said.
"Sorry. He said the first thing he wants to do is meet all of you." I said.
"Sam don't let her." Jacob said.
We all laughed at Jacob. I know Tyler is going to love them as much as I do.
"At least tell me I have a few more weeks." Jacob said.
"You have a few more hours. He'll be here tomorrow morning." I said.
Jacob groaned. I patted him on his shoulder.
"At least you don't have my list of chores to do." I said.
"Do you need help so you don't hurt yourself?" Paul asked.
"It was one time Paul." I said.
"Your dad said it happens all the time." Jared said.
"Try not to hurt yourself Julie." Paul said.
"I hate both of you." I said.
"Lies. You love me." Paul said
I laughed and smacked his arm. I walked over to Emily and gave her a big hug.
"I will send Collin and Paul over in a bit to help you." She said.
I heard Paul groan and we both laughed.
"Thanks Emily." I said.
I gave Collin one last look before I walked out to head to my house. Something about Collin makes me feel at home. I don't know if it's just the way he looks at me or if it's something else.
I have been by myself for the past two hours. I just have a few more dishes to put away. I have been standing on a little step ladder. I felt myself starting to slip. I yelped but I still fell with the dish. I groaned from the pain. I know my back is going to be bruised. I looked down to my arm and saw a big gash bleeding. I sighed and grabbed the towel hanging on the drawer. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to go to the hospital. I couldn't get my arm to stop bleeding. I sighed again before deciding to go to the hospital. I know I can't drive myself so I have to go to Emily. I grabbed my purse and keys. I locked the door as I walked out. I walked to Emily's and was about to knock when the door opened. Paul was standing there smiling but it fell when he saw me. I know it was because of the bloody towel that he could see.
"What happened?" Paul asked.
He took a hold of my arm so he could inspect it. I hissed in pain and the door opened wider. I saw Collin standing there.
"Your dad is so right Julie. You can't survive a few hours on your own." Paul said.
"Haha your so funny." I said. "Can you take me to the hospital?"
"Ya. I'll drive and Collin can stay with you." Paul said.
"Thank you." I said.
Paul put his arm around my shoulders and we started walking to the car.
"Come on. It's going to be a bit before we get to Forks ER." Paul said.
"How'd you know that's where I have to go?" I asked.
"Your dad told Emily. He also said to ask for Dr. Cullen." Paul said.
I heard a growl come from behind us, I looked at Collin but I could see the concern on his face mixed with anger.
"My dad thinks of everything doesn't he." I said.
"I'm sure he knew you would find some way to hurt yourself." Paul said.
I glared at him and used my good hand to hit him. He laughed as we got in the car.
The ride to the hospital was mostly quiet. We were almost there when I looked to Paul. I was giving him puppy dog eyes. He glanced at me and started shaking his head.
"No. I'm not doing it." He said.
"Please Paul." I said.
"No. No way." Paul said.
I started to fake cry. I heard a chuckle come from Collin.
"You know you are going to do it." Collin said.
"Fine. I'll stay too." Paul said.
I looked at him and smiled. He sighed but I could tell that he was happy to do it if it made me feel better. We parked and then walked inside. I went to the reception desk.
"How can I help?" The lady asked.
"Dr. Cullen please." I said. "I'm Juliet."
"He is with his son right now but I will call and let him know your here. Please take a seat." She said.
I walked over and sat in a chair. Paul and Collin sat in a chair on either side of me. Collin was on the side with my hurt arm so I leaned my head against Paul. It was only a few minutes before I saw Carlisle and his son Emmett. Emmett looked at me and laughed. The two boys with me growled. I was a little confused but let it go waiting for the joke I know is going to come from Emmett.
"What did you lose to in a fight this time Juls?" Emmett asked.
"I fell off a step ladder with my mother's glass dish." I said.
Emmett laughed again and looked to Carlisle.
"You should give her a room here." Emmett said.
"I would stab you if I could." I said.
Emmett looked down to me and smirked.
"Gotta catch me first." Emmett said.
Carlisle laughed at his son.
"Go home and tell everyone I'll be a little late." Carlisle said.
Emmett chuckled before walking away. Carlisle looked between the two boys.
"Are you ok with them coming with you?" Carlisle asked.
"I trust them." I said.
Carlisle held a hand out to me. I took it and stood up. The boys followed after me. I could tell they were nervous but they never said anything.
"It's amazing Tyler could leave you without worrying himself to death." Carlisle said.
"I thought the same thing when he left." I said.
"I'm sure he will make your parent's drive faster." Carlisle said.
"We haven't called her parent's yet." Paul said.
"Trust me Tyler knows." Carlisle said.
We got to Carlisle's office. I sat on the bed and looked between Paul and Collin. Collin seemed the most uneasy with Carlisle being around me. I held my hand out to him and he walked over to me and took my hand.
"Is there any glass in it?" Carlisle asked.
"No. I got it all out." I said.
Carlisle started to unwrap the towel. I squeezed Collin's hand when it hurt to bad.
"I bet you wished you could heal yourself." Carlisle said.
"Tyler would do it but he's not home yet." I said.
Carlisle looked at it and then looked up at me.
"It definitely needs stitches." Carlisle said.
"But?" I asked.
"Will Tyler let it heal on it's own if I do?" Carlisle asked.
"If I tell him to then he will." I said.
"Do you want stitches or wait for Tyler?" Carlisle asked.
"Tyler option please." I said.
Carlisle chuckled. He walked over to his desk and got some thing out of the drawer.
"That's always your answer." He said.
He came back over to me.
"These are like stitches. They only work for a few days but only if you don't get them wet." Carlisle said.
"Tyler will be here in the morning unless he rushes my parents to get home faster." I said.
Carlisle looked over to Collin.
"Can you make sure she doesn't get her arm wet?" Carlisle asked.
Collin nodded. I heard my phone start to ring. Paul grabbed it out of my bag.
"Your in trouble." Paul said.
He handed it to me. I saw Tyler's name and answered it. I put it on speaker because I know Carlisle will be able to hear.
"Hi Ty." I said.
"Are you with Carlisle?" Tyler asked.
"Yes. I'm with him." I said.
"Good. He maybe a vampire but he takes good care of you." Tyler said.
"Tyler." I scolded.
I looked to Carlisle to apologize for my brother but he was still smiling.
"They know too Juliet." Carlisle said.
"Who does? J who is with you?" Tyler asked.
"A few friends from next door." I said.
"You got dogs now too?" Tyler asked.
"Tyler that's rude." I said.
"It was going to happen eventually." Tyler said.
"Is there a reason you called?" I asked.
"We'll be home in a few hours." Tyler said.
"Good thing we didn't do the stitches." Carlisle said.
"Stitches! J your hurt bad enough to need stitches!" Tyler yelled.
"Ty calm down." I said.
I could feel my heart rate pick up to match his own. Tyler and I are twins which normally isn't bad but we also have powers. Carlisle reached out for me. It was getting hard to breathe. That's why we have moved to whatever place the Cullens go to ever since we met them.
"Tyler calm down. Juliet can't breathe." Carlisle said.
It was only a few seconds before I could tell he had calmed down. I looked to Carlisle and smiled.
"Are you ok J?" Tyler asked.
"I'm good. I'll see you soon." I said.
I hung up the phone and looked at Paul and Collin.
"You knew about us?" Paul asked.
"I've known all along." I said.
"What are you?" Paul asked.
"My brother and I are healers. I just can't heal myself. If something happens to me Tyler feels it. He never gets hurt though. We've tried." I said.
I looked to Collin to see any emotion about the situation but all I could see was the adoring look in his eyes.
"I guess that make's Collin's job easier." Paul said.
I looked over to Paul.
"What?" I asked.
"Sorry Julie, it's not my place to say." Paul said.
I looked to Collin but he just smiled at me. I don't know what I'm missing but it must be pretty important. I can just only hope that whatever it is isn't bad.
Paul dropped Collin and I off at my house about an hour ago. I want to know what the big secret is but I don't want to push him to tell me anything. I want him to tell me because he wants to. Collin looked at me. I could tell that he was thinking hard about something.
"Go ahead and ask." He said.
"What was Paul talking about?" I asked.
"We have this thing called imprinting. It's really not a big deal." He said.
I could tell it was more serious than he was trying to let on.
"Have you imprinted?" I asked.
He looked at me and he had the same adoring look he had while we were at the hospital.
"Ya. She's absolutely amazing. I met her at school right before I shifted and from then on I was her's. Even if she didn't know it." He said.
I smiled and looked down. I thought about what he said and how he has been looking at me. At some point in my thoughts it clicked.
"You imprinted on me." I said.
"Ya. Sam was so surprised." He said.
"Why?" I asked.
"They all had to wait until they locked eyes with their imprints but with you it was different. When I shifted you were all I thought about. I couldn't stop seeing your face in my mind. Sam said it was like my heart imprinted on you before I did. It became official earlier at Emily's." He said.
"That's why you froze." I said.
He nodded confirming what I was thinking.
"What's it like to imprint?" I asked.
"It's like the world stops. Suddenly she's the only thing you can see, feel, or want. The guys said it's like gravity shifted and she became the thing holding them here." He said.
"What do you think it's like?" I asked.
"Like the world shifted." He said.
"Guess that makes things difficult if you had a girlfriend." I said.
"Good thing I didn't." He said.
"Why did you talk to me that day?" I asked.
"I felt like I had to know you no matter what it cost me." He said.
"Are you worried that one of them could hurt me?" I asked.
"No. They wouldn't be able to even if they wanted to." He said. "Imprints are not to be harmed. It's our most absolute law."
"But it can still happen?" I asked.
He looked down and I could tell his mind was going some place different.
"Ya it could but we are way more careful around imprints ever since Emily." He said.
"The scars." I said. "What happened?"
"Sam was first learning. He got angry and he shifted. He didn't realise how close him and Emily were." He said.
"I guess it makes sense why you are careful." I said.
"I'll never hurt you." He said.
I smiled at him. I have never heard someone sound so sure about something in my life. Now I know there is never going to be a way for me to leave Collin. After hearing everything and being able to tell how special I am to him, I could never leave him. He is going to be my forever. I think a part of me always knew. It will always be Collin for me. There's never going to be someone else for me and I never want there to be anyone else but him.
