Jennifer's POV
It is another beautiful day to work in lovely Washington, D.C. When I got into work, my boss told me that we might have another pretty busy day because of more field trips and/or tours going on. I smiled & nodded my head, went down to drop my stuff off, and headed to my post. And sure enough, the day got pretty busy really quick. My day pretty much consisted of walking around to make sure all guests were having a great time. My particular focus today was in the music section. There were a lot of tourists in that section today, which isn't a surprise because it's one of the sections in this exhibit that gets the most attention from anyone. I walked around and greeted all guests I came across, asked them if they were having a good day, I even chatted with some of them for a little bit. Once that was done, I went about my business. The time is now 11:30 am, and I am now on my lunch break. I didn't bring anything specific for lunch today, only because I was craving some pizza that they sell outside in the little food area. I ordered a slice of pizza, medium lemonade, and a cookie for a side. After I finished my lunch, I sat on one of the benches along the walkway of the National Mall. It honestly felt really great, just to sit there and relax, enjoy the slight breeze, and people watch.
After 30 minutes have gone by, it was time to head back to work. Before heading to my post, I went down to my locker to grab my water bottle so I have something to drink while walking around. As I made my way to my post for the next 3 hours until I go home, I looked up, and I happened to lock eyes with a guy who was standing about 10-15 feet in front of me. And by the looks of it, he was walking straight towards me. But I didn't pay it any mind because I was focused on getting to my post. Because I wasn't paying attention to where I was going, I accidentally bumped into someone. When I looked up, it was the same guy that I locked eyes with. "I am so sorry, are you ok?" I asked. "Ohh yeah. I'm totally fine, don't worry." He responded. "I saw that you were wearing a name tag on your shirt, so I'm assuming you work here?" He asked. "Yes, I do work here. I work in the Entertainment Nation exhibit. My name is Jennifer, nice to meet you!" I replied. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Mark, and these are my friends. It's our day off, and we're not sure of our way around this museum." He responded. "Ohh, I'll be glad to help you! Is there anywhere in the museum or anything in particular you want to see?" I asked.
"Well, I'm in a band with my friends, and we're looking into seeing anything relating to music, if there's anything like that." Mark said. "Ohh, we have plenty of music related things! We have some artifacts from Elvis Presley, as well as Michael Jackson! I can lead you there!" I smiled. "That would be perfect, thanks so much!" He responded as they followed me to the exhibits. "So here we have Michael Jackson's hat that he wore in the "Smooth Criminal" music video, and here we have one of Elvis Presley's signature guitars!" I said as I showed Mark and his friends around. "I have to get back to work, but if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask." I smiled as I walked off to return to work. It's been an hour since I bumped into Mark & his friends, and honestly, I felt a vibe going on between the two of us. Meaning, I felt like him & I would become great friends. A few minutes later, as I was fixing some things around the exhibit, I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. I turned around, and it was Mark standing behind me. "Hey, is there anything I can possibly help you with?" I smiled. "No, we're all good now. My friends are waiting outside for me, we're about to head back home now." He replied. "Well I hope you enjoyed your visit here today." I responded. "We truly did enjoy it, thank you very much for helping us around!" Mark smiled. "It is truly my pleasure. I hope you guys have a great day!" I smiled.
"Ohh, before I leave, if you're comfortable with it, I'd love to have your number." Mark said. At first, I didn't know how to respond because I literally just met this guy a couple hours ago. But then again, I feel like this guy Mark and I, would become really great friends. "Ohh, sure!" I smiled as I gave Mark my number, and he gave me his. "I have to get going, but again, I hope you have a great rest of your day!" I smiled. "Thanks so much, same to you." He said as he made his way towards the exit.
Did that really just happen.....? Did I just find the guy, who I would possibly spend the rest of my life with.....?
