As you drive back to your apartment, your mind sinks into the events that had happened today.

This was bad.

This was extremely bad. Your past was catching up to you and you didn't seem to be ready to face it at all. How did they find out exactly where you were at that moment?! If they knew that, was it possible that they also knew where you lived? No. That couldn't be right. The Federal Agency kept their part of the deal and offered you protection and made sure there was no address under your name.

But the thought that his men actually attacked in public, at a governmental institution full of skillful agents, for Christ's sake, was scaring the crap out of you. They did all that, just to get you killed.

You knew you shouldn't have betrayed them, shouldn't have betrayed their leader, but you couldn't erase what's already been done. And you were going to fight against it, no matter what. For your daughter.

When you enter your apartment, your sister, Ellie, was waiting for you on the couch. She usually takes care of Noelle when you're not home, and you couldn't be more grateful for that.

"You look like shit.", is the first thing that comes out of her mouth.

You weren't in the mood for jokes, "Thanks.",  you reply sarcastically while rolling your eyes. "I need you to take Noelle and leave the city for a while.", you add, taking your coat and shoes off.

Your sister is silently shocked for a moment before she finally speaks, "What?"

"They know where I am. Don't worry about the money, I'll give you enough to keep you there for some time.", you add, heading towards the opened-space kitchen to pour yourself a wide glass of wine. "You want some?"

You said that so casually that it actually creeped your sister out. She shakes her head at your question and stands up from the couch, "You know it's not about money. Mind telling me what happened?"

You sigh and tell her everything about the attack and that you recognized the symbol, and your sister knows its serious when she sees you struggling not to cry right there and then.

"Are you going to be okay?", she asks softly.

In a way, she knew you'd be lying, but you kept the façade anyway, "Yeah, I'll be fine. But I need you to promise me something", you say, stepping closer to her after you take a sip from your wine, "If you ever stop hearing from me while you're out of the city, I want you to stay there. Keep my baby safe, alright?"

Your sister's eyes start watering and she unintentionally moves her hand to her mouth when she realizes the gravity of the situation. She leans closer to hug you tight and whispers, "Please, please stay safe."

You hug her back tighter at her words, "I will, I promise."

"I've already put her to bed, she's snoring like a truck driver right now.", she adds, trying to lighten the mood a bit.

You chuckle softly and break from the hug, "Thank you. For everything."

Ellie smiles warmly, "Don't mention it. Beaufoys have each other's backs, right?"

"Right.", you sigh.

After your sister leaves, you head towards the bathroom to take a shower. As the cold water hits your face, your mind drifts to everything that happened today. The attack, the realization that they were actually coming for you, your not-so-great new relationship with Leon...
