I'm standing on my front lawn, the ambulance and the police are now here. People are walking in every direction around and in and out of my house. Neighbours are standing on the street watching and asking questions. The Forensic's and police are searching my house for evidence and clues. They have secured the area with yellow police tape to stop and warn people not to enter the crime scene. I'm lost in a crowd waiting for someone to talk to me. Just then I see a tall, well built man approaching me.
"Hello, I am police officer John Stilton, Are you Chuck Randal?"John asked in a stern voice.
"Yes" I answered in shock of everything that's going on.
"I need to take you back to the station to ask you a few questions, if you would follow me to the car " he said in a deep voice and then began walking quickly in a south-east direction.
I tried my best to follow closely behind it was hard as my legs were shaking and I felt a little sick and dizzy. We finally reached the car, he gave my a quick look and then opened the back door and suggested me to get in. The journey was long and quiet. I stared out the window most of the time, looking at the stars. For the first time since yesterday morning I wasn't thinking about April and what was most surprising was that I wasn't even thinking about Kate. Right now I have no worries, but I don't think that will last for long.
The car slowly came to a stop, John got out. I sat waiting for a couple of minutes listening carefully to a conversation that was going on just outside of the car. Then the door closest to me opened and I got out observing everything around me. Now my worries were starting to shine through, but my main objective was to get out of this station.
"This way please" another man said grabbing my arm and leading me to a large blue door.
He pressed digits into a security code machine. I heard a beep and the door flung open, he then began leading me down the corridor as John followed. I looked down at the floor as I walked because it made me feel like I was getting a death sentence. Police always made me nervous, but I think that's the point. We stopped in front of a brown door, the police officer let go of my arm and continued walking down the corridor. John reached out to open the door.
"After you" John said with a condescending smirk on his face.
"How long am I going to be here" I asked anxiously.
"Oh your not going anywhere anytime soon mate" he chuckled as he shoved me into the small room.
