Chapter 8

Hey, sleeping beauty wake up" an annoying voice came from my left.

"It was a dream....thank God" I said trying to slow down my heart rate.

"Well from the way you were shouting and screaming in your sleep i'd call it more of a nightmare wouldn't you?" John asked a little bit curious.

I never replied but I knew and so did he that that is exactly what it was a nightmare. I stared at myself in the mirror. I looked awful all the colour had drained from my face as if i'd seen a ghost. In this case my daughters ghost in a nightmare.

"You wanna talk about it" John asked sympathetically to me, which is a side of him I didn't think i'd see.

"No, you wouldn't understand" I snapped back harshly.

"Fine then suit yourself" Stilton said rising from his chair.

"What's going on can I go now" I asked anxiously.

"What's your hurry" replied a women's voice which I did not recognize.

I turned to see a neatly dressed women in a red blazer and a black pencil skirt. Her brown hair was tucked into a bun, but strands had fallen down sitting softly around her face. She was holding a clipboard in her right hand and a cup of coffee in her left.

"I'd like you to meet Inspector Sarah Parker" John announced proudly as she walked over and took a seat.

"Hello, i'm Chuck Randal" I managed to say as my voice is still shaky.

"Officer John get Chuck something to eat he must be hungry" Sarah ordered as if she was actually concerned about me.

"Yeah sure, I wouldn't mind something myself. Would you like anything Inspector" John asked politely.

"Another coffee thanks" She replied gratefully.

John left the room while Sarah fidgeted with a recorder. I looked once again at my hands realizing I still Hadn't washed them. Sarah gave me a few quick glances but remained silent.

"My condolences for your loss" Sarah said sympathetically as I looked up at her.

"Thank you" I said lowering my head again, now hoping the silence would continue because i'm am to tired to talk.
