it was late at night, and you were almost fast asleep when lo'ak came over and gently shook you awake. you were startled at first, but when you opened your eyes and saw the moonlight reflecting off his tear-stained cheeks, you immediately knew that something was wrong.
quietly, you followed him out of the marui, careful not to wake neteyam as you both made your way to the beach.
as you walked along the shoreline, with the cool water lapping at your toes, you and lo'ak found solace in the silence surrounding you. there was no need for words; sometimes comfort could be found in just being together.
eventually, you both reached the end of the beach and settled down on a rock, taking in each other's company.
concerned by his tear-streaked face and glossy eyes, you softly reassured him. oh, lo'ak, it will get better, i promise." unable to hold back his emotions any longer, lo'ak muttered through his sniffles, "why does my dad hate me so much?".
the warmth of the moonlight illuminated the sadness in his eyes, and you saw a part of him that he had been hiding for so long.
you took his hand in yours and gave it a gentle squeeze, understanding that words could not express the pain that he was feeling.
"sometimes, even when we can't fully understand the situation, we just need to know that someone is there for us," you said quietly, your voice full of compassion.
he looked up at you, his face brightening for a brief moment. "i know," he murmured, tears beginning to form in his eyes. you reached out and wiped them away, your fingers gently caressing his cheek as you did so.
embracing him tightly, you whispered words of comfort into his ear. "it's okay," you said softly. "let's just sit here in the moonlight, and everything will be alright."
lo'ak pulled away from the hug and gazed deeply into your eyes with an expression of vulnerability and love. "may i kiss you?" he asked hesitantly.
with a nod of consent, lo'ak wasted no time in closing the distance between you both. as your lips connected, warmth spread through your body like wildfire. you pulled each other closer and deepened the kiss, feeling as if nothing else mattered but this moment with lo'ak.
running your hands through his hair while he held onto yours, time seemed to slow down as your heartbeats synced up. eventually breaking apart from each other, you exchanged loving gazes and knew that no matter what storm you might face, you would face it together as one.
he smiled and pulled you onto him as you laid your head on his chest, one hand wrapping around your waist and the other intertwining with your hand.
the two of you sat in silent comfort for a few minutes, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore providing a symphony that only you two could hear. tears continued to trickle down his cheeks, but gradually, his breathing became steady and his shoulders eased.
you stayed with him until the tears dried and his breathing returned to normal. when you finally stood up and made your way back to the marui, you could feel the warmth of his love radiating off you like a gentle hug.
you had no idea what kind of trouble lo'ak was facing, but you knew that it was something that you could never understand. but you also knew that it was something that you could help him through with your love and support.
as you walked back to the marui, the moonlight casting its silvery spell over the sea, you could feel a powerful connection to lo'ak that was only heightened by the intensity of the situation.
you had given him comfort in the only way you knew how, and somehow that was enough. the two of you would never forget that night or the moonlight that had shone so brightly on the sea.
