desiree ran straight to the cabin her and maddox had shared all those years, where else would she be?

she opened the door, and her best friend was nowhere to be found.

"come on maddie, where are you." desiree said as she looked into the bathroom.

desiree felt terrible, she knew all about maddox and jet's relationship and yet she still let herself fell for him.

it's already bad enough to like your best friend's brother, but the one she hates? that just makes you a bad person.

desiree plopped on the edge of her bottom bunk, leaning over so her head didn't hit the top bunk, maddox's bunk.

"where else could she be?" desiree whispered to herself.

then she remembered the little area her and maddox used to go to their first few years because they didn't fit in at first, and it was just them in their own.

desiree quickly got up, and starting sprinting to the place before maddox could go anywhere.

and luckily when she got there, maddox was sitting against the tree, looking off into the lake.

desiree stepped on a branch, and maddox turned her head to the sound. maddox sighed, and then turned back and desiree continued to walk forward.

"maddox-"

"no."

"but-"

"no!"

"desiree, i don't know what you don't get. seeing you kiss jet, i felt like i was betrayed. i would get over you kissing my brother but i hate jet, and you know that." maddox said.

"that kinda just makes you a bad person. you comforted me through everything he did, and suddenly you're kissing him. well, for real this time."

"maddox i'm sorry. i told him that it won't work, i did it for you. because i realized what i did was wrong." desiree said.

"okay, i understand that but it's just a lot okay. and with him liking you for over a year, i just...it's way to much for me to process." maddox said.

desiree looked up at the tree, where m and d were carved in, showing the start of their friendship.

maddox got up, dusting her pants off. "i'll just see you at the camp prom." she said walking away.

as desiree walked her best friend walk away from her, there were singular tears falling from her eyes at every step maddox took.

"it's okay, it's okay des. just camp prom, show, and then you go home." she whispered to herself.

she got up, and took the other way back to the cabin.
