Chapter Nine: May I offer you some tea and biscuits?

"Why do people keep talking about you and Zane Rivers going on a date?" Zahra questioned.

I was walking to the car with Xander and Reveka when Zahra, Leyla and Kai caught up to us. They all heard about the so-called news. Seems like Anastasia's mouth runs like a waterfall.

"They're probably insane." I pointed out.

"I agree." Rev supported.

"Not everyone can be insane. The news spread like wildfire." Leyla said.

"More like her insanity spread like wildfire."

"Who's her?" Rev asked. I hadn't told her about Anastasia. I didn't want to spoil her mood.

"Anastasia." I said.

"Arabella." Kai corrected.

"Who's Anastasia/Arabella?"

"It's actually just Arabella. She's a new student in our grade."

"So what do you plan to do?" Xander asked.

"I plan to walk to the car, enter it, drive to the...." He cut me off. "That's not what I mean and you know it. What do you plan to do about the rumours?"

"Ignore them. They'll disappear."

"How will that work?" Kai asked.

I shrugged. "When people see I have nothing to do with Zane, they'll get tired and end the rumours."

"Cherry!" A very familiar voice called from behind me. I slammed my eyes shut.

About that....

You're not helping.

You want advice? Fine. How about you open your eyes? You need them to see where you're going, remember?

Oh right. I opened my eyes. Maybe if I continue walking, he'd ignore me.

"Cherry! I know you can hear me!"

"Who's Cherry? And why are Zane and Wren walking towards us?" Zahra asked.

"Not possible." Leyla turned around. "Possible." She stopped walking. They all stopped. No, please keep walking.

I felt a firm hand on my shoulder. I put my hands over my face. This can't be happening. You're not helping the rumours, Zane.

The firm hand turned me around. "Remove your hands, Cherry."

"No."

He tried to pry my hands off my face but I wouldn't budge.

Stop it. You're embarrassing yourself.

"People are starting to watch us."

I dropped my hands faster than I thought. And there standing in all his 6-foot or so glory, was Zane Rivers.

"I knew that would work."

"You know me so well, don't you?"

"Of course."

"Have we met before?" Wren asked me.

I said "Yes" at the same time Zane said "No". I gave him an incredulous look and he just raised his brows.

What's he talking about? I've met Wren so many times.

Do I really have to explain this to you? He has only met Avery. You're Charvi.
