Chapter Fifty-three: Zane whatever-your-middle-name-is Rivers
My eyes fluttered open at the feeling of a cold liquid on my head. The first person I saw when my eyes adjusted to the light of the room was Jaxon.
Oh hell no.
Panic gripped me at the sight of him. What have I gotten myself into?
I started screaming hysterically, but then I realized my screams were muffled because a gag had been put in my mouth. I was lying on a bed, but I was tied to it with handcuffs. My hands and legs were shackled to the edges.
"Oh good you're awake. For a second there, you actually got me scared."
Well you freaking hit my head.
"I know the gag may seem unnecessary, but I didn't want you screaming. I would remove it at some point. It's useless anyways because no one can hear you from down here."
I looked around the room and I was shocked by what I saw. It looked exactly like my room in Dad's house.
He traced my eyes. "Oh you like it, don't you? It looks exactly like yours so I hope you get comfortable."
He dipped a rag into water and put it back on my head. "All done." He dropped the rag back in water and turned to me with a smile. He put his hand on my face and I struggled with the handcuffs. Pain shot through my wrists and ankles. I continued screaming hysterically even though I knew it was helpless. I was so freaking scared, I didn't know what else I could do.
"There's no use in fighting it. No one's going to find you here so I suggest you enjoy it."
Enjoy it? Over my goddamned dead body!
"I know a lot of questions are running through your head and I'm going to answer them tomorrow."
Tomorrow?
"You may not be tired, but I have had a long day and I'm drained."
I wish I could drain all the blood out of your body. Organ by organ.
He stood up from the seat he had positioned beside my bed. And lifted the bowl of water from the bedside table.
"I would put on the TV, but I may not be coming back here and I know you don't sleep with noise. Or do you want me to sleep with you?"
I shook my head fast and sharply.
He had the nerve to chuckle. "You'll be changing your mind very soon. I don't want you to live here as a prisoner or my slave. All I want is for you to love me and want to be with me."
Never.
He was turning to walk out of the room, but then stopped to say something else. "Oh and yeah. There is no Darien."
What?
"I mean there is a Darien, but the person you were texting was me. I saw his number on your old phone and found a way to get your new number so I used that to talk to you saying Reveka gave me. And it was just my luck that you didn't ask her. I knew that one day using him would come in handy. Whether giving me personal information or locations, I was willing to take anything. And just by my luck again, you were willing to invite me for thanksgiving dinner. My luck again, you came alone. It's like we were fated to be together. As soon as that your so-called perfect boyfriend was out of the way. I thought I should kill him, but that would have just been too messy. Sucks right?"
Sucks?
He leaned down and kissed me on my forehead through all my struggles. "Too bad your lips are occupied. Maybe another day." He winked at me before walking out. Leaving me alone in this familiar, but unfamiliar room.
