Chapter Ten: No need to go all angry wolfy on me

Yes, it's Friday, but I got called in for an extra shift and I couldn't say no.

"You still have time. Should I wait with you?" Zane asked.

Why is he being so sweet and nice? He's a player. He has slept with half the female population. He's arrogant. He's rude. He's a jerk.

A nice jerk? Never heard of those before.

I guess there's more to people than meets the eye.

"Of course not. Wren's home. He'll probably be waiting."

"Yeah that's true." He realised.

I stepped out and closed the door. I waved at him. He didn't wave back and drove off.

It's either he didn't see or he just doesn't care.

I vote the latter. Back to being a jerk.

Why do you want to think the worst of him?

Well, that way I won't be disappointed.

I was sitting at a table at the corner of Tate's waiting for Toni's shift to end, when Axel and Leyla walked in. I don't know if it's weird, but I've never been happier.

They sat about a table from mine and Corinne came to get their orders. Toni preferred to be just behind the cash register since it was mostly full around her time. Corinne is still here for the first two hours of mine.

They give her their order and she wanders off. Instead of them to engage in a conversation, Axel just stares at his phone and she stares at him staring at his phone. I had about 10 minutes before my shift would start.

Don't meddle.

What makes you think I'll do that?

I'm in your head remember.

True. Then you should know what I'm about to do.

I'd close my eyes, but I don't have any.

I stood up from my seat, with drink in hand.

If you pour it on him I swear I'm leaving your head.

You can't and you know it.

I walked past their table. It'd be better if I poured it on him from the back. The front won't just make sense.

None of it would make sense. What do you plan to achieve from this?

He'd be too angry to type.

Number 1; That's dumb. 2; Do you want to get fired?

In about 10 minutes, I could get fired. Right now, I'm just a customer.

Goodness!

I turned around ready to pour it on him, but what I saw on his phone made me pause.

He's texting me. And it looks like he's about to call me.

If your phone starts ringing, while you're Avery won't it be weird.

Coincidence, maybe.

But what about when you pick up?

That's why I'm not going to. He can't call me while he's on a date with her.

My phone that was in my jeans pocket rang.

Apparently he can.

It all happened so fast. I was behind him when my phone started ringing, and now I had a different reason to spill my drink on him.
