Chapter Four ~ Hunter

I stared at the beautiful Frankie. That was a beautiful name for a beautiful woman.

She stared at Principal Baker like she'd said something rude about her. "What?!"

Principal Baker smiled widely. "Yes. Frankie Hall, meet Hunter Daniels. You will be tutoring him."

Frankie rolled her eyes. "I did just sign a contract."

"You did." Principal Baker grew even happier. I wondered why.

Frankie glared at both of us. "You better show up ready to work. Meet me in the library during last period. I'll be in the back."

I nodded happily. Not only would I more than likely pass and stay on the team but I'd get to be around her. She seemed like she needed a smile.

She gave us the evil eye before stomping out.

Principal Baker smiled at me. "Come in, Mr. Daniels. I have your contract ready to sign."

I walked into her office, happy. Today was great.

I walked out of my English class, upset. Today sucked. It was the second test we'd taken and I already bombed the first one. At this rate, I'd be kicked off the team for sure!

Matt walked up with Candy Buttons (her real name), his girlfriend. "Hey, buddy! What's that?"

I shoved the test into my backpack. "Nothing. Coming from shop class?"

"Home Economics." He shook his head. "Had to pick up my girl."

Candy pinched him.

"Ow! My woman."

She nodded once. He wrapped his arms around her slim form and kissed her neck, making her giggle.

I was a little jealous. Jorden and I broke up over the summer so I had no one to kiss and giggle with. For some reason, Frankie's scowling face appeared in my mind. "Hey? Do you guys know a Frankie Hall?"

"Nope." Matt shook his head.

Candy though looked at me. "Yeah. She's a sports girl-"

"Really?" Matt looked confused. "Why don't I know her then?"

"She doesn't come to any parties or games that aren't hers. She's very quiet. If I didn't have her as a tutor sophomore year, I wouldn't even know what her voice sounded like."

"She tutored you?" I asked, hopeful. "Was she good?"

"I got my first A in language." Candy beamed.

"Wow. I know you struggled in Spanish for the longest time." Matt raised his brows.

She shrugged. "I did. But she was a great tutor. A better teacher than Señora Turner."

Matt smirked. "Maybe I need her? Wait, why'd you ask about her, Hunt?"

"Because she's my new tutor." I had no problem telling Candy. She was able to keep a secret.

Candy clapped. "You're going to pass!"

Matt seemed relieved. "Whew! When do you see her?"

"I met her before classes started but I have to meet her during last period." I could smile widely.

"Cool." Matt squeezed Candy. "This is going to go right."

I spent all of lunch looking for Frankie throughout the cafeteria but there were literally thousands of kids who went to our school. I couldn't spot her. So I ate and had a great time with my friends.
