Alright.

This is it ...

I'm doing this as a human.

"I got a plan..And I'm doin' it as a human!" I exclaimed, flashing my hands towards the immense crew.

"Let's hear it, (y/n)!" Dad exclaimed.

"We're gonna play keep away!" I said. "First, I'm gonna catch their attention and get Ginormica to chase me again! Once she's after me, - and she's no longer there to guard her quote on quote 'master' - Mom, Dad, you guys, my sisters , and the rest of team Monster get in there and take the Bolt. -

Everyone listened hard, excited to put the plan into action. I could see Link's eyes glistening, ready to fully unleash the monster that he is, and take it all out on the alien menace.

"Then," I went on, my hand sweeping up, down, left and right, "once you've got it, team Alien and the Monstrous Galactics will work together to take Coverton down! NOW, for the plan to go smoothly, we'll need a pair of radios. - Or...walkies."

Dr. C dug into one of his many coat pockets, which were stained with oil and things from his gadgets. He then pulled out two metal boxes with clips, TV antenna, a few rewired buttons and a big, thick wire. They kinda looked like makeshift walkies made from trash and spare parts.

My sister looked back at Dr. Cockroach, possibly thinking the same thing.

Dr. C must have noticed our questioning expressions because he looked back at me "Really?" Asked his face.

I found myself glancing left and right, hoping that we could just move on from this.

Dr. C showed me mercy and tossed one of the strange devices. It hoped out of my hands, around and around it went; I fumbled with it as if I were juggling!

Finally it just fell into my palms, and I gripped it tightly, as if it would slip out again.

"Are we all clear on the plan?" I asked, trying mentally move on from the fact that I nearly broke one of our only pairs of walkie-talkies.

Everyone gave a solmn nod, with every other monster giving an "mm-hm" or a "hmph!" or even an "uh-huh!"

I nodded and--

"Inhale..."

"..."

"exhale"

"whew..."

I stared at the electronic devise, my mind losing itself to memories...Memories of my sister.

I liked to reread the letters that Susan would send from her home base in the desert. I loved to read all about her friends and adventures. She wrote about quirky things like Bob being Bob, or Dr. Cockroach's experiments either blowing up or exceeding all expectations! Some stories were more centered on aliens, like Sqweep having biological alien issues that she couldn't control. (Sqweep is so sweet. Well, by alien standards.)
She'd vent all about her problems, talk about her issues, yadda, yadda, yadda...And I'd always talk about mine.
My adventures weren't nearly as exciting or as thrilling as my sister's, but I tried to make the most of each of them non the less. After all, having a volcanic dog with enough power to make a dormant volcano erupt was definitely a thrilling experience.
Anyway, we'd write about each other's lives, give advice on how to solve our problems...
One good thing about where Susan was stationed, was that letters between Team Monster and their families were classified as important and thus, were delivered as swiftly as possible. So, I got a letter -sometimes two letters - every week. And I would always rush to write her back.

Now, those letters and bonding time over paper felt like nothing but a fading memory! Like a thick but cooling, refreshing mist clearing itself away with dawn! I stared long and hard at the little walkie in my hand. If I didn't fix this...if this plan didn't work...then that would be all those letters are...memories of a bye gone era. An era I never wanted to end!
