You had overslept. Your alarm had been set for half six in the morning but when you opened your eyes and checked the time it was ten past seven.
You rushed around the house in a panic, tripping over your cat, Mavis, many times. You didn't even bother with breakfast, shoving an apple in your work bag for later.
You gave Mavis a quick pay on the head before leaving your apartment, locking the door behind you. You practically flew down the stairs of your apartment building, running out into the street.
Your phone buzzed in your pocket and you pulled it out, not slowing down your pace at all.
You squinted at the screen, the bright sun making it difficult for you to see it.
Whilst you were trying to read your phone, you hadn't realised that there was big stop sign in the path until you had smacked straight into it.
The force of you hitting the stop sign sent you toppling to the ground backwards.
You yelped in pain, holding a hand up to your nose and forehead.
A woman called out to you from behind and you turned around to look at her.
Your gaze met the most extraordinary blue eyes you had ever seen. Her hair was lengthy and golden, shining in the sun. You could only see the top half of her face, a covid mask covering the bottom half. She was looking at you, concern evident on her face.
"Are you alright?" she asked, kneeling down beside you, placing her hand on your back.
Her touch sent a chill down your spine and you could feel electricity building up where she had placed her hand.
When you gave her no response, she repeated the question.
You snapped out of your thoughts, your eyes widening slightly. "Oh! Yeah, Yes i'm okay thank you".
She pulled down her mask and smiled at you. "That's good. I'm Taylor", she introduced herself, her pink lips pulled into a wide grin.
Your brain clicked when she pulled her mask down. You recognised her immediately and your heart seemed to stop beating.
"Taylor Swift?" you whispered, mentally face palming at how stupid you sounded. She just laughed at your shocked expression.
"The one and only", she exclaimed, showing off her perfect teeth as she smiled. You smiled with her, heat rushing to your cheeks.
Taylor studied you for a moment before speaking in a shy voice, "you're really pretty". You could feel your cheeks turning a dark shade of red and you watched as Taylor's did the same thing.
"You too", you said back truthfully, still mesmerised by her beauty.
"Are you free right now?" she asked you. You opened your mouth to tell her no, you had been rushing to get to work but something in your brain stopped you.
"Yes".
Taylor smiled again with joy, holding out her hand to pull you up from the floor. She used a bit too much power though because when you were up, you almost fell into her.
She caught you before your body crashed into hers and you both giggled nervously, like teenage girls.
"Do you wanna go.. grab a coffee or something", Taylor asked you in a quiet voice. You nodded your head quickly. You would probably just call into work sick for today.
"Yeah. Yes. That sounds amazing", you replied, getting lost in Taylor's ocean blue eyes.
"Cool. Oh i never asked your name?" she said, as you guys began your walk to the nearest Starbucks. It was a pretty small place, so Taylor knew that she wouldn't be bombarded that much by people.
"Y/N".
Taylor smiled at your name, repeating it back to you. It sounded so natural as it rolled off her tongue, and something about the way she said it made you shiver.
You hoped that this strange interaction would turn into something bigger and better. You glanced over at Taylor who was staring at the path ahead, a blush still visible on her cheeks. You smiled to yourself, feeling extremely lucky for this opportunity.
