breakup prank gone wrong (requested)

authors note: about a month until Friday 13th and i can't wait. i don't know why i celebrate it like it's a holiday. i'm a bit strange.

Taylor sat at the kitchen table, picking at her nail polish waiting for you to come home. 

She had been scrolling through her Tik Tok for you page about three days ago when she had some free time, and had come across a video that she wanted to try out. This man did a breakup prank on his girlfriend and Taylor wanted to try it on you.

So she devised a plan. She started out by acting a little colder towards you. You didn't think much of it, just suspecting she was stressed from work. 

Then she dropped all the kisses on the end of her messages and stopped offering you hugs, which pained her greatly.

 You wanted to see what was wrong with her so, the day before, whilst she was baking cookies for your nieces upcoming bake sale, you picked her phone up from the counter and hid yourself in another room.

You typed in her password and scrolled through her phone, trying to find anything that might've led her to act like this.

As you were scrolling through her camera roll you came across a saved video. After watching it, you put two and two together, coming to the conclusion that she was planning a rather elaborate prank.

You smirked to yourself. Two can play at that game you thought, walking back into the kitchen innocently and placing the phone back in the exact spot it was in before.

Now, the next day, Taylor decided it was finally time to pull the prank.

Her head snapped up at the sound of your keys in the door. You opened the front door in a hurry, stumbling in as you tried to escape the heavy rain.

You shook yourself off, walking into the kitchen and smiling at the sight of Taylor.

As much as Taylor wanted to smile back at you, she managed to keep a stoic expression. She changed her body language so that it made her look like she was feeling awkward.

Your brain clicked, knowing that she was about to pull the prank on you. You internally laughed, thinking about the look on her face when the prank backfired.

"Um Y/N i think we need to talk", she said, getting up from her seat and standing in front of with her arms folded across her chest.

You played innocent, smiling at her as you frowned. "What's up baby?" you asked. You knew what was up.

"I.. I don't think this is working out. I think we should break up".

Inside, you were buzzing, ready to throw the prank back at her, but on the outside you made a shocked face.

Taylor's heart broke at the sight, but she knew it was too late to turn back now.

Little did she know though, you had a perfect reply lined up.

Your shocked face turned into a face of pure relief as you let out a small laugh. "Oh thank God. I've been thinking that for a while. I was going to tell you a few days ago but I didn't want to hurt you because you seemed so in love with me and stuff, but now i know you're not that makes me feel so relieved!"

Taylor's face grew pale as her jaw dropped slightly. Tears welled up in her eyes and she stuttered over her words.

"W-what? you want to break up?" she asked, her voice breaking slightly.

You decided to carry the act on even further. "Well yeah. Don't you? you just said you wanted to?" 

Taylor shook her head, a tear falling from her eye as she rushed forwards, holding your face in her hands.

"No! that was a prank!" she cried out, looking like she was on the verge of a breakdown, "i don't want to break up. i love you. please don't do this", she begged.

She held your hands, tears falling from her eyes and rolling down her cheeks as she continued to beg you.

Watching her in so much pain broke your heart and you had to give in. You couldn't see her like this anymore.

"Tay! Baby. Shh don't worry, i don't want to break up either. I was also pranking you", you confessed.

Taylor froze, a shocked expression plastered on her face. "What? I-I don't understand?" she said, frowning slightly.

"I figured out that you were pranking me, and i thought i'd prank you back. I got you so hard", you replied,  giggling slightly, proud of yourself for pulling it off so neatly.

Taylor gasped, her jaw dropping. "Oh my god!" she exclaimed, her dropped jaw turning into an impressed smirk.

"That was amazing! You're so smart, but don't do that to me again!" she said, kissing the end of your nose, relieved as hell that you weren't actually breaking up with her.

"I'm so gonna get you next time though", she said, looking at you in a way you could only describe as "seducing".

"I'd love to see you try", you replied, smirking up at her.
